Hi @Lien, no I am not allowed to reveal her name. She is just following my footsteps so next will be seeking a FL with my surgeon Nick Rhodes.
Oh I wasn't asking for her name. Just wondered what one procedure of rejuvenation that she did, that's made her look 20 years younger (if not a FL). Happy for her.

Exciting news: I am gonna be seeing Nick Rhodes! Will definitely try to meet up with you when I am there. Expecting either May/June or Sept this year. Still waiting to hear back from Coppergate. He's suuuuper booked up!!

Hi @Lien,

Oh in that case the one procedure was revision des with ptosis correction and lid fat graft. After this 2h 45 min op she looked instantly younger. Remember how I said if you could only afford one op to do the eyes. For rejuvenating aging Asian eyes, Dr Seo is the best in the world in my opinion! And indeed my friend flew from America just for his op! The translator Lizzie took the photo of us on my phone but as I was jetlagged ie 1:30 am gmt and it showed, I cropped myself out.

When I answered him in what little Korean I knew, he spoke full speed Korean and I looked dumbfounded. lol. He spent ages explaining what she needed and provided step by step photos on his computer monitor describing how he harvested fat, how he would do the eyes, etc. as well as showing similar eyes to hers with incredible afters too. I thought wow he has made so many patients happy. He is very popular and well known among local Koreans. I could feel his passion speaking about eyelids. Truly a gifted oculoplastic surgeon and gifted fat graft plastic surgeon too.

I am so pleased I got to show Dr Seo the results of his 'Birth of Beauty' creation, my almost 8 year old postop revision des, ptosis correction with lid fat graft and 1 top up and my 4-6 year old full face fat graft he did in 2018 with top up in 2020.

I sat next to a 54 year old lady on the first leg of my flight to Korea and I always get the same question when I reveal my true age...wow what did you have done? Who was your surgeon? But you look so much younger?

Then on the second leg from Amsterdam to Seoul I sat next to a 21 yo Korean college student. He said we were of the same generation?! I kept telling myself don't mention you have children. And then when we landed in Seoul I revealed I was probably older than his parents and I was! The look on his face! lol.

My selfies dressed for -8C Seoul. See how Dr Seo's eyelids and lid fat graft are still great almost 8 years on.

Does Dr Seo do facial liposuction? While I get fat grafting I'd like to get my neck, double chin and maybe jawline liposuctioned and use that fat for my under-eyes and cheeks.

My American Asian friend had a consult with Korean American Dr Michael Byun in Chicago for a facelift. My jaw dropped to hear his quote! $150,000!!! He is now more expensive than NYC's Jacono who last quoted a patient $120,000! https://www.chicagocosmeticsurgery.com/

Needless to say that makes my UK facelift surgeon Nick seem a bargain at £15k for full face and neck lifts and he has a 1 year free revision policy too.

Wow I found this YT video 4 years later! It's of a Korean girl with a lid palsy that was fixed by Dr Seo at Machimpyo in 2020. It shows inside his clinic and theatre! He is the best revision eyelid specialist in my opinion.Collage_2024-01-27_08_59_11.jpg

Today's post is on revisional surgery. Revisions are notoriously more difficult and more unpredictable than primary procedures.

1. I had a breast lift that left my breasts symmetrical but my areolas stretched and wonky/asymmetrical so I requested free revision. After revision I was left with asymmetric breasts! One was tubular and one not. I was both shocked and dismayed as my breasts have never been misshapen. It took breast fat transfer in unequal amounts to correct the asymmetry.

2. I had rib rhinoplasty and 2 weeks later developed a nose abscess and tip collapse as unbeknownst to me I had a prolene allergy. My body was rejecting the permanent suture material. I had free revision at 6 weeks postop after much tears, anxiety, insomnia and pleading and just paid the hospital fee and all the prolene sutures were replaced with pds long acting dissolvable sutures. I awoke to find my nose was corrected but now I was left with wonky nostrils! I had had beautiful symmetrical nostrils beforehand. However instead of asking for yet another revision, I gave it time and it slowly corrected on its own over the years.

3. I had a VR facelift which then sagged at 5-6 months. Unbeknownst to me swelling can stretch the skin no matter what kind of facelift one has or the surgeon. For the free revision I took prednisolone postop and had no swelling and the facelift looks fab at 2 years+.

The moral of this story is only ask for a revision if you have a MAJOR deformity!

Postop swelling can lead to unpredictable results....eyelid creases may be different if one eyelid swelled and stretched much more than the other and asking revision for asymmetrical eyelid creases may lead to asymmetrical eyelids with ptosis in one eye! A revision rhino can end up worse off as there is immense scar tissue under the skin that needs cutting through and tissue and cartilage manipulating and a too long nose may become a curved buckled nose or a super short piggy nose. Please do NOT get silicone implants in your nose. Saw horrific photos in person in Korea.

It is very dangerous to be a perfectionist or to continue to see the same surgeon for a third time thinking the result will be better. If it didn't happen the first time, what are the odds the same surgeon can get it right third time around?

I could have continued on a cycle of facelifts each time it sagged without knowing that postop swelling was the culprit and to STOP any swelling with steroids.

I met a tpfer in Korea who looked amazing for postop day 3 after full face fat graft. I asked how? She replied her Korean surgeon gave her prednisone tablets!!! Omg how different my journey of 5 full face fat grafts would have been had I had postop prednisolone. I may never have needed repeat refilling and then a facelift for all the skin stretch from severe facial swelling x 5.

And lastly to minimise surgical complications request a morning weekday slot for surgery when the surgeon is less tired and not last on the list at night or on a Sunday.

@MissOrange are there side effects of taking Prednisone for 4 days after surgery?

Do you know if she specifically asked the surgeon for prednisone or it was a standard part of the rx cocktail they write for you after surgery? Which clinic was this? This is the first I've heard of Korean clinics prescribing it post-surgery for swelling, I hope others do the same!

Side note: 3 days post-fat graft I'd assume some of that volume to be from swelling even with the prednisolone. If she looks perfect at day 3, I'd be concerned the doc didn't add enough volume. I'm curious how she'll look a few months out, I hope she can do a review.

Hi @zet88,

Welcome to tpf. Happy to read your story.
Hello MissOrange, I just now started to read on some of your posts. Planning to do hair and eyes with different clinics. I am currently in Korea and is booked to do a hair on Jan 31 with Motion, the surgeon suggested to do this procedure first as I will be facing down for multiple hours.

Consulted with Mina with Dr Cha for the upper blepharoplasty and he suggested I do the eyes first or in on the same day. I had mentioned on a email that I would wait to do the eyes a week later to give time for post op on the hair in case of any swelling. I felt a bit pushed and decided to wait to book with Mina. What would you suggest as you’re a professional in this? And boy do I have a story on Mina but will wait till another post. Any suggestion on which clinics are best for uppers blepharplasty?

Thanks
