I use leather CPR which is a cleaner/conditioner. Good stuff, as its more of a cleaner than a conditioner but it isn't harsh. It's available on a lot of websites too.

CPR ROCKS! I discovered it at Restoration Hardware. Then I found it at Walgreen's drugs.

My walgreens doesnt have jack. I think I ordered it from some tack and feed website lol. You get a big ol jar of it too. I do know they have it at bed/bath and beyond

I have heard people talk about getting good results with the baby wipes, so try that and see if it works before you pay $29 in shipping for the Apple Garde. Or leather CPR, if you can find it.

Although this thread is not about bag, is about clothing, but i figured it is from Chloe so maybe someone here might help me out.

I got this chloe's cropped leather jacket in Feb. It is a dark chocolate color with really nice leather. It a really easy to wear piece, i could virtually throw on anything as a top.

However, I am thinking of just using my usual leather conditioner on the jacket to prevent it from too "dry" looking, if u know what i mean. Then i noticed the instruction said i should not apply any kind of cleanser or conditioner and I should send it to professional for maintanence. But i mean i am not trying to give it a thorough cleansing or anything. Is it really necessary to send it to professional clean? It is not dirty or anything... Besides, i was always told not to send for too frequent cleaning...

Anybody here might also own this jacket, could u give some input regarding how u take care of it???

Thanks.

Holly, I had denim transfer to my craie hobo. A Bloomingdale's SA used Coach leather cleaner on the bag and most of the dye came off. That said, I later recall posters saying Coach was a harsh cleaner...

i've used cadillac leather cleaner and the cadillac leather conditioner. I had a stark white bottega veneta (lamb skin) that fell on the pavement during the rain and was trashed. It had dirty water marks and black stuff from the pavement. I used the cleaner first all over the bag. Then followed it up with the conditioner. It worked wonders.

I would try the least harsh way first to see if it works, then work your way down the list. But if you can take it to a professional leather worker/show repair first, I think they can give you some expert advice!

Good Luck!!

I have never used anything on my leather jacket (which is not Chloe). You might try calling a leather good store to see what they recommend. Are you spot cleaning, or just general maintenance?

I agree with ETenebris about consulting a professional.

Is it the jacket from Spring collection with the 'peter pan' collar and tab w/ one button on the neck?? If so, I've seen it in a light brown (tan) and a medium brown (whisky-ish). The leather seem like if you put the wrong stuff on in, it will leave a nasty mark or stain. I wouldnt risk it... such a beauty.

Thanks ETenebris. So u never do any kind of cleaning on ur leather jacket, only sent to professional cleaning?

I am not doing spot cleaning. I guess it is like general maintenance...

Yes, it is the peter pan style collar with tab on the neck. I bought it in whisky/darker brown. I was a bit skeptical about the possible stain as well, so i have not dared to try anything on it. But i am afraid too frequent pro cleaning could destroy the leather as well...

Lucky you. That was such a gorgeous jacket. Fell in love with it on NAP then was able to see it in person. LOVE IT!

Yeah I understand about the frequent cleanings. What I would do is take it to a pro, ask if they can spot clean the areas only. That way the entire jacket won't get worked over. Also, I would probably get it cleaned once a year if necessary. Again, spot clean first.
