This is only my opinion, just puttin' it out there as another possibility....Recognizing that everyone has their likes and preferences, but despite the expense and hype over movie stars and socialites who carry them, alligator and croc bags seem old and out-of-touch to me. Which is why I sold a Hermes croc Jige that I had been gifted. I know I was supposed to feel that it was quite the
thing, but I just felt like an old lady. JMHO.
To me, over-the-top is not breezy, young or modern. Reptile bags of any sort feel aging and unattractive to me perhaps because of their association with cruelty. Anything that brings to mind Cruella DeVille with a cigarette holder and talon-like nails is a no-go for me, as I am no longer a bright young thing

. Again, just one person's opinion, so please don't everyone get all fired-up. What feels modern to me especially over age 40 (30?) is laid-back luxe--choosing structured shapes in casual materials like vachetta (or other untreated/natural leathers), suede, or modern fabrics, or unstructured shapes like buckets and backpacks.
Anything that looks ultra-ultra or like it's trying too hard (I believe) is aging. Valextra's bright structured bags and backpacks for example, check the box for a luxurious look with off-hand hip, and would bring a "current" vibe to an outfit. LV's clean, modern Epi leather (maybe something from the men's line) or their classic canvas in a fun new shape, or an oversize clutch from Burberry or Bottega Venetta would do the same thing.
