I really don't have a pattern! If I'm really loving something, I might stick with it for a month. If I need a particular form factor in a bag for a specific purpose, I might just use that for whatever task and then put it away immediately.

I also would switch my bag more frequently if I knew I didn't have people counting my coins and property...I have no interest in clothing and my feet need to be comfortable because my work environment can change to a warehouse without notice (hence why I can't wear anything nice), so my bags are the only thing I get to enjoy and accessorize as an "outfit"...even though they go straight into my desk.I use the same work bag every day (trying not to be ostentatious at work), but in my free time I use a different bag each time to match my outfit!
I sympathize with you about the work issue. I love jewelry and always have, bought it for myself and hubby bought some great pieces for me. There was a woman where I used to work (the Assistant to the Director) that I had to work with a lot and who knew EXACTLY what my salary was. One day she commented that she didn't know how I afforded such nice jewelry. I told her first of all you don't know what my husband makes, second you don't know what I paid for this, and third if you will look out the window you will see that YOUR discretionary money went to your brand new SUV while I drive my older Buick that I have had for years. She shut up then.I also would switch my bag more frequently if I knew I didn't have people counting my coins and property...I have no interest in clothing and my feet need to be comfortable because my work environment can change to a warehouse without notice (hence why I can't wear anything nice), so my bags are the only thing I get to enjoy and accessorize as an "outfit"...even though they go straight into my desk.

Isn't the work busybody/ jealousy thing the worst?!I sympathize with you about the work issue. I love jewelry and always have, bought it for myself and hubby bought some great pieces for me. Oh, and I change my bags almost daily.
Yes it’s a pain. I used to know someone like this who was jealous as h*** over anything anyone else had. She did the “is that ANOTHER new bag?” with accompanying exaggerated eye roll, to me one time too many for me to stay polite. I just held it out, said “YES - isn’t it AMAZING” and gave her a big grin, everyone laughed and she shut up for goodIsn't the work busybody/ jealousy thing the worst?!Gawkers and gossipers are a political nightmare.
Accessories seem to be the biggest target because they are most noticeable from a visible branding and / or costliness standpoint. In contrast, most people can’t spot a premier designer dress v. a well made one from a mall store.
I, too have designated one handbag and one laptop bag to use around colleagues and clients. I only use two pair of sunglasses (one w/ shw & one w/ghw). And, I wear minimal jewelry. I have a somewhat sizable engagement ring as part of my wedding set. I refuse to dumb that down by wearing just the band. But, I keep earrings and necklace very minimalistic, very rarely wear a bracelet and don’t wear a watch.
BUT, when I go anywhere in the evening I change into a non work bag. And, I change bags each day (sometimes twice a day) on the weekend days as well.![]()
I've done a similar thing a few times, even at my brother. He's stingy as heck and always the first to make others feel bad about buying something.Yes it’s a pain.
