I am just wondering are these associates paid well enough?I was treated horribly at LV at Yonge and Queen St. E in Toronto. I have only shopped once at LV and that was last year but at another location (Bloor St) and the manager was amazing. She showed me what i wanted to see and i bought what i wanted.

Today i went to LV located at Queen and Yonge, as it is 5 mins away from my place. I want another Neverfull but in another canvas. So i asked how to not have Ebene's strap crack. This is what happened as the conversation progressed:
a) the associate completely denied Damier Ebene''s straps ever crack? She stated, she has never heard about it!
b) Then she pulled up my history in front of me to show me that i have only shopped once at LV (maybe this made her feel as if i do not know about the products etc so i am just making up the story about straps cracking, etc). I was shocked to be treated like this. This experience has left bad taste in my mouth.

I am a bit confused about what the treatment you received has to do with the compensation they receive.

That aside, the SA you got definitely did not seem very professional. I live in Hawaii and my store is frequented by wealthy tourists, and us "locals" sometimes get ignored. I've found that by seeing a regular SA (with proven knowledge and professionalism), I've been a lot happier with the service I receive.

Well, There are studies stating when you are not compensated well, often employees do not care about how they render customer service. And the crappy service i received, got me thinking if that is the case for associates in premium designer stores.

I am wondering this too.. I wanted to ask my SAs but felt little bit rude to ask about money..so wanted to find out here too. Do they make commission on each bag they sell? If so, how much about their commission is? Does anyone know that?

If they were to make commissions, they would be more nicer, IMO!
Not necessarily. I would be annoyed by time wasters too. You may just be reading too much into this interaction. You may not have even considered your behaviour. Not saying you were rude or anything, but you may have come across negatively and therefore got what she considered an appropriate response.

I think you just got a crappy SA, someone who was having a bad day, or uninformed, (even a cursory look on resale sites will show wrinkling on DE straps). Whatever the case, not sure its worth your time investigating. Anyway, very rude and you didn't deserve that and sorry that happened to you. Just move on to someone nicer and who deserves your business.

I see, yes It does make sense... so each their personalities, I guess. I am pretty lucky so far with my a few SAs in a couple of LV stores in retail department stores, but I have very unlucky and bad experience with 1 rude lady SA in my local stand alone boutique that makes me don't want to go back to the boutique ever again, even though there were other SAs seemed normal and nicer in there.

Some LV SAs are very defensive if you ask them about potential flaws in the product. I had this happen to me when I was buying my damier ebene NF MM. The SA was irritated when I asked about the cracking and just didn't want to serve me anymore when I wanted a NF that was properly aligned on the sides. I just went to another location and got the bag I wanted and the service there was amazing. You get all types at these stores. I was told by an SA at LV that they do not work on commission.

i Hate that expression time wasters They have a job to service clients. So that’s my take on it even if I don’t buy, Because maybe next time I’m in I will get it. I shop and try stuff all the time. I have bought plenty but do not feel the need to buy every time I go in. I enjoy the experience of trying looking and getting more info on things. I luckily have had amazing service all the time. Like I said I try tons and don’t buy all the time and they are still happy to see me when I walk in. I feel everyone has there good days and bad. Maybe it was just their bad day. Hope that your next experience will be a great one. Also as to the question I do believe they. Make a salary and commission.

I feel you, I would get unpleasant feeling if I was treated like that. I am sorry that happened to you. I think that is what the SA's own personality and you were just unlucky.
