I buy whatever I like. There isn't a particular brand that I must have. I have stopped purchasing coach handbags but love their accessories. I feel the quality has gone down quite a bit and the styles are just boring to me. I like mk totes, watches and sunglasses. And lv handbags. I used to like dooney but found they have horrible customer service.

I wouldn't say I switched. I still purchase what I like. Because at the end of the day it's initially what you love. I'm willing to save for a bag that I really want then settle for something just because it's more affordable. But that's just me >.<

Nope! I have all sorts of bags--LV, BV, Tod's, MK,etc.--and love them all! ;)

I occasionally buy MMK but only when I find it on sale. I refuse to pay FP for MMK. It's always on sale somewhere!

Hi ladies ive been reading this forum for a while but just singed up for an account!

I want to make the switch and have fallen deeply in love with selma and hamilton! But I also like the Miranda even though its a little pricy. What are your suggestions for my first purchase? Does any one from this forum have a Miranda that I can see pictures of?

Right now the Selma is really popular--and comes in so many colors! But it depends what you are looking for--cross body vs. hand carry, big vs. small, etc.

The Selma small messenger is super cute and I love it with the gold studs!

The Hamilton is a MMK classic. It's also really popular here in tPF.

I agree with you about the Miranda. I love, love, love it! I am hoping (fingers crossed) that Bloomingdales will have a Friends & Family sale soon so I can at least get 25% off. I have my eye on the smaller Miranda with grommets. :p

I have one LV and then numerous Rebecca Minkoffs, Michael Kors, Coach, Dooney and Bourke and Kate Spade. I will probably never but another LV. It is amazing, yes, but it isn't $1000 amazing! Plus, when I carry it, everyone thinks it is fake anyway which is disappointing. I know it is our area. We live in Fake Central USA. :bagslap:

The selma or hamilton are both great classic first time bags, but there are so many beautiful colors and styles to choose from, have fun and show us pics!!!

I am glad I found this thread as I was thinking of treating myself to the LV totally mm for my birthday, I normally buy bags from LV and Mulberry but just saw the Michael Kors Jet Set Zip tip tote (correct me if thats wrong) in selfridges and it reminded me straight away of the totally! The MK bag is £195 and the totally and over £700 and yet I am still having trouble deciding which one which seems mad when the MK version is over £500 cheaper! Does anyone else have either of these bags who could help me decide to 'make the switch' from LV?

Well I don't exactly have those same bags but I have a neverfull and a jet set tote. IMO I would get the mk if you can find it on sale somewhere. I hate buying a bag and then the next week it's on sale or sent to the outlet! On the other hand the lv will never lose its value so even if you buy and then later decide to sell it. You still get back majority of your money. If not more. Also it depends on your needs. I use my neverfull mostly and the mk on rainy days or places I don't want to get my neverfull wet like the pool or the beach. Sooo after all that I would say if you can afford the lv for it will hold its value and look for the mk on sale..

I have several LV bags and do love them, but with their costs that keep on skyrocketing I think MK is a breath of fresh air. The MK have the LV look and quality and the price is so good you can get many bags for the cost of one LV. The other poster was correct in saying LV hold their price but it just depends on how YOU feel about it. I used to never carry anything but LV, Gucci, or Fendi but now I love MK and feel good about having a great selection of bags to carry at a great price and I dont worry about bringing them anywhere.
