If I don't count those that are for sale, I've got 58. If I include those for sale, I've got 67.

I don't have to be in a hurry to reduce the number. If I just stop buying, eventually the number will drop as things wear out, get stained or I get tired of them.
I never count bags I have earmarked for sale because I never bring them back into my collection. The minute I decide to sell, they’re dead to me.

Are you wanting to reduce your number of bags? I think your collection seems very reasonable.
Update: 208.
I’m curious, do you have some you keep to enjoy and then some you wear? I know many on tPF collect bags as someone would pieces of art, crystal, antique toys, etc.

Until recently, I always limited my collection to bags I actively wear which kept me between 25-30 bags. But I’m now at the point where I really despise selling and see no reason to let go of any bag I enjoy even if it’s regular usage fades. So almost certainly the number of bags I own will gently but continually drift upward by one or two every year or so.

Some are def collectibles but mostly wearable pieces, few exotics. Some are for sale since it's not my style anymore (I don't wear those marked for sale). Even though I don't reach out for some older styles I will never part with iconic bags like Fendy Spy, some BV, LV, they are pieces of art to me. I mostly wear what I bought recently which meets my todays needs style wise and size wise.

I believe I have 24. When I think about it and look it doesn’t feel like that many. I do have a few I never use which I need to sell but otherwise they truly do all have a purpose. I think this biggest thing is that I carry different bags for different seasons. There’s always a larger black and a smaller black that I’m rotating between. However, in the fall there’s an additional mixed in and in the spring an additional two, in the summer there’s a few extras add in because I carry so much more. Same with winter where I have a red bag and two wine colored bags. I think if I could minimize the seasonal bags to just one that’s probably the best way I could minimize. Buuuuut. I also have three nice clutches I very rarely use but when I do use them they are just my favorite things in this world.

Okay maybe I can’t downsize after all lol. I do think ridding myself of at least 4 is a good idea though.

So… lol. I consigned five bags this week!! Buuuuuut then I bought three lol. Zero regrets but I’m pretty sure my reasonable number is more like 30 in the long term than 20 is 🤷🏻‍♀️

*** I had to edit to say I bought four this week, not three 🤣🤣🤣. Okay no more than 30 it is!

Thanks! I go back and forth on whether I want to reduce my collection further. I think 24 would be an ideal number. That way every bag would get used an average of 1/2 month per year.

I hate selling too. There are some bags in my collection I don't carry much but have decided not to sell because I wouldn't net enough to make it worthwhile. I might as well keep them even if I only carry them once a year. A few others are collectibles and a few are special occasion bags.

If I truly was never tempted by a new bag, I wouldn't worry about reducing my collection. Over time, bags would get used enough to make the CPW a small amount. But I can't resist new and the newer bags are always the bags that get carried the most.

I did vote previously that I had 21-30 bags. I juat gave my niece some bags and I am getting rid of some. I am down to 11 bags. I am not counting travel because I wouldn't carry these bags if I were not traveling or working. I don't have a very active life so I think 11 ia a good spot for me.

I’ve stopped counting as a handbag my Toscanella travel bag, as it’s far too large to use as a day bag, I’m possibly going to sell it anyway, but it’s Definitely not a handbag by any standard, it’s too large and too heavy.

I’m going shopping next week and May buy a new handbag (or more), so will update, but the travel bag is exactly that : a travel bag, Not a handbag!

I'm more of a mid range bag lady myself:

2 Aspinal - camera crossbody bag in Pool Blue, and London Midi tote in Olive.
1 Coach Shay in brown mixed leather.
1 See by Chloe Hana in Russet green.
1 Gianni Chiarina Dua in Gold Sabbia.
1 Radley Southwark Lane in black leather.
1 Paul Costelloe black shoulder bag which is years old and an absolute workhorse.

Plus a couple of nice suede bags from FatFace and Hush. An old grey Fenn Wright Manson huge leather shoulder bag a friend of my mum's gave me. A blue woven Christian Lacroix shoulder bag which was a gift.

Including the new Dune black sequin bag I bought for Christmas I now have 4 bags, (i donated most of my collection and sold some, even my Hermes, leaving my navy alligator / crocodile ones, then bought 2 black bags in July.

I’m still mainly carrying the navy croc!

I don’t remember what I voted before, but I now have 17 bags. 13 luxury and 4 contemporary.

Question - I bought a Loewe puzzle hobo just because I liked the way it looks. So I don’t use it, but it’s on display in my bedroom. Is that weird? I don’t think I will ever use it. It’s not even a style I normally look for. I just like looking at it every day.

I am sure I am between 50 and 60. I was bitten by the vintage Coach bug a ways back, and saw some enticing non-vintage as well … For a few years I was jammed up about having so many, like it was a moral defect or something but over the past few years, and especially the last year, I realize it’s my business and mine alone. I am looking forward to getting them organized, working on a pile that needs refurbishing and getting myself on a selling platform in 2025.
Edited, looking at other replies has got me thinking about different categories so at some point I will circle back with that!
