Thought I'd chime in..
Kinda depends on the person, their needs, their goals, etc. I think common sense is the secret behind buying H, or anything that requires that much $$$$++ to fund. A car might do it for some, maybe a house, maybe kids, maybe a whole wardrobe of flare. No judgments. Just think it takes planning, discipline, and a good income. Of course, whether that income is yours or someone else's is besides the point.
Personally, I did what lots of folks on tPF did -- resold my collection on eBay to subsidize my H purchases; recycled already-spent funds. I follow a financial plan that lets me still have a life. I also sweat it out daily in ballet class, so any impulses to buy fleeting interests are exhausted.
This forum is awesome. But one should exercise their common sense and planning skillz before investing.
