I like your idea of displaying them, although I'm too scared of them getting dusty. All of mine are in their dustbags. My plan is to have a gigantic closet one day and put them under glass cases with special lighting like in museums.

I have all of mine stored in their dustbags on the shelves in my closet. I know exactly which one is which. Much like some of the other ladies, if I have to get a quick fix b/c I'm missing looking at one of my babies, I'll go in the closet and pull her out of the dustbag to oogle her.
I put them in their dust bags and store them in their boxes under the bed. I would like to display them, but I honestly prefer other types of decor to purses. Don't get me wrong, I love my bags and I love to look at them, but I like home decorating too. I guess if I wasn't married and had my own room I would maybe use them that way. 
My closet is too full of shoes and hats so mine all live in my home office, in their dust bags, on my wall of book shelves. In each bag I store, the matching wallets, wristlets, cosmetic bags, matching scarf, skinny minys, fobs/keychains, and keep them stuffed with tissue. On the top row are odds and ends scarfs and small accessories (umbrella, camera bag, etc. Next shelf are the Lilys and a vintage bag. Next shelf down are bridgit, the Legacy Garcia Satchels and 07 Legacy Shoulders. Bottom shelf are the GiGi's, Legacy Garcia Tote and a Bleecker Woven Hobo. I keep them all in a certain order and know which ones are where. The handbag I am currently using sits out in front on its dust cover.

I'm often tempted to display my gorgeous bags, but I'm too afraid they might be damaged in some way. I keep them safe in their dust bags tucked away in a window-seat chest. Unfortunately, I'm getting to the point where I have too many bags to store there. I'm not sure what I'm going to do at this point...
I do feel like if they were easier to access and I could see them, I would find more inspiration for ways to wear them (i'm very visual when it comes to styling).

If I had room and stuff, I might leave mine out, too. It's sounds like you have a nice setup. I store all my accessories and purses in their dust bags when not in use.
Here is the Ikea cabinet. It's missing a few bags though. Sorry it's so big, I wasn't sure how to make is smaller!

I think it was $69 or $79. I can't remember for sure. Definately less than $100. HTH.
I love that Ikea cabinet! I usually keep mine displayed on top of an antique trunk I have in the living room. It's probably not the best idea, but my collection is small and I don't have any space!
