How do you afford your bags and how many per year? Credit debt or millionare lover?

I've been working for a couple of years but don't have anything resembling that of a savings account. I have definitely spent less on bags (~$800 on 4 leather bags) than I donated, so it counts for something...?

I'm not in debt, but I do need help saving up. It's in-and-out on a monthly basis, and I have decent bonuses which "disappear".

I started my collection when I was 18....my first Louie was given to me by a very wealthy ex-boyfriend who bought it for me because I was sick with a sinus infection. I became hooked on the brand instantly. After that, I started working full time and would treat myself to a new Louie or Chanel whenever I received a bonus or raise. I was living at home and saving a lot of money so I could afford to do so. Now, at almost 29, I have a mortgage and am married, but still treat myself to at least 1-2 bags a year. I have a great job and I am a good saver. I use a credit card to earn miles and then I pay the entire bill every month. It's just a really fun hobby and I will always find a way to get something I want. ;)

I'm 19 and just finishing up my first year in university. I have a part time job which i can pull in 24 hours a week. I live at home so my parents take care of all utlities and also my tuition, so my only expense is my phone bill. I have 3 designer bags, not anything too high end since i can't justify spending 1000+ on a bag when i'm so young(after all, taste changes!). Most of my more expensive purchases are jewelery( i probably have 2000$+ worth of tiffanys). I really want to buy higher end bags, i have a marc jacobs, badgley mischka and longchamp but i can't justify purchasing more than 500 much on a bag right now, PLUS i love clothes and shoes as well and i could never forfeit buying clothes :(

I am 25 and teaching. I life frugally and save up for my purchases. I NEVER ask people for money and it really bugs me when other assume my hubby pays for my spending. =) I am my own woman!

I am 31 and now work part-time but I worked full-time until last year and paid off my university debts and credit card a couple of years ago. I finally have some decent savings so don't feel too bad when I spend any spare money on purses. No guy has ever bought me a purse, if I want something I buy it myself. My fiance and I are lucky in that we don't have a mortgage and we choose to go on one main holiday a year, so our main expenses are bills. I don't drive so save money myself on all the related costs of running a car. I love clothes too but shop middle-high end rather than buying designer, so that I can spend it on nicer purses instead! :smile1: I now have a good bag collection with MBMJ, Mulberry, Chloe etc but equally happy to buy preloved in good condition as I am to buy at retail price. My most expensive bag (first-hand - a Chloe) was £780 and that's probably the maximum I would spend personally..

I quit working so I could have more time together with my husband. It seemed I always had to work whenever he had time off! So he buys all my purses these days, although we have been splurging on travel more than anything recently! :graucho:

If I ever get tired of being around him so much, I'll go back to work and spend all my money on purses and shoes. :lolots:

"All the honeys making money, throw your hands up at me." :)

LOL.

Love it.

I have a well-paying job. I don't buy things on credit (unless you count using the credit card for online purchases and then paying it off in full when the bill comes on..I don't carry credit-card debt though). How often I buy bags depends on my mood and needs. 3-5 times per year is probably a safe answer though.

I have a huge purse collection but nothing too high end. Sometimes fasion is about versatility. When you focus too much energy on the designer and cost, you get stuck in a fashion rut. The best I've got when it comes the "designer" purses, is a Coach bag and a beautiful leather studded Kenneth Cole bag. One was a gift and the other was 75% off (of 600.) Perhaps I've stuck my foot in my mouth because I'm on a purse forum, but why not buy lower end look a likes and have a ton? Help me learn your ways...

My dad started me off with an LV bag and a rolax when i was like 12 yrs old, then I started by buy Lady Dior for mom and myself using dad's money :)

Until I went to school and graduated, I spend around $5,000-$10,000 on bag a year, same for clothings (since most of my stuff are classic black and white but i buy SHOES).

My DH makes some okay money and he sometimes chip in, but not like pouring gifts on me kind which is great :)

We both got mortgage but we are getting rent, so the balance sheet is still doing okay.

Save, save, save! I'm going to be a college student in the fall, so if I want a designer bag, I'm going to have to save. I save any birthday and Christmas money. I'll be working, so while most of my wages will go to paying for college, I'm hoping to save a little here and there for my bag fund. I don't expect my parents to pay for any designer bag I want unless they willingly offer. I'm only willing to pay with cash/debit card and will not use a credit card unless I know I can pay it off in full at the end of the month. (Not that I'm getting a credit card any time soon... I've heard too many horror stories about students getting into so much debt!) I don't want to get into any other debt on top of my student loans, so I prefer paying with the money I know is already there.

I really can't say how many bags a year I buy. (I just started collecting last year.) But if I had to pick a number, I'm going to say that it will only be once a year. No more than two.

I'm 31, used to have a fairly succesful company, which paid for my designer shopping. Am now between jobs and finishing my degree, but I rent out a property, so that makes for a decent living, but for the first time in my life I have to watch my money. It's been difficult, as old (shopping) habits die hard :-) So this year I haven't bought any purse yet, but I did buy other designer stuff. I find shoes are my weakness and I'm trying to fill my collection of accesories. I mainly buy things on sale so I don't feel too guilty.

I don't have an enormous bag collection (maybe 15; didn't count)-higher end bags and another 15 ish mid range bags (Furla, etc). Sadly there's no Chanel or Hermes lurking in my closet (at least for now :-) ), but I more than make up for it in shoe department (app. 100 pairs of the best)

I bought everything myself, as boyfriends never appriciated my.. ahem.. interest in fashion. But I've seen sometimes girls dragging their sugar daddies to the counter to buy them bags and it's not a pretty sight. I feel, can't they just give them money, so they can buy it themselves, ha, ha.. I never understood how they have to go with her so everyone sees they're paying.
