Thank you Caitlin. I've heard of Prison Break, but have never seen it. Goodness, what's with all of these car accidents lately?:shrugs:
You're welcome. I don't watch Prison Break, either. I know a particular actor (Stacy Keach) who was on the show, and then I know there's that hot guy with the full body tattoo. And the tattoo isn't real, it's just for the character. And that's the extent of my knowledge.

This in a way is like the case of Dan Snyder and Danny Heatley. Both young NHL hockey players that were in an accident when Heatley's luxury car (I'm thinking it was a Ferrari but unsure) was going at speeds over 150 KPH. Heatley was not intoxicated or had any drugs in his system. He was granted 3 years probation, had to do speeches at schools of the dangers of speeding, and was only allowed to drive to games and practices alone.

That being said, Dan Snyder's family chose not to condemn Heatley but embraced him and didn't want him to have jail time. Here's an article about that: Forgiving Dany

Thank you for sharing that Bradysmum

IMO, Brandy is only being treated this way because of the level of her celebrity. No one cares about the Lane Garrison accident because he is pretty much an unknown...

I think her celebrity is definitely a factor in the level of interest, but there are also more questions in her case, so there will be a lot more posts, and a lot more speculation, as you can see in this thread, people wondering if she could have been on the phone, changing a CD, daydreaming, etc, in contrast to the Lane case where there are just not that many questions about what exactly occurred!

wow, a lot of you here are very perfect!

i have lost two friends to car accidents.

1. during college, a friend was driving home for spring vacation, car hit him while he was turning and died. the newspaper showed photos of his car with blood on the ground. sickening. 19 years old. no restitution, an accident.

2. my husband and some friends went to a football game. left the game, guys were messing around...a little drunk. guys were roughousing a little and one stepped into the street. a car hit him and he flew in the air. another car hit him on the downswing. both cars fled.

yes, these were horrible life changing experiences. in #2, he was married less than 3 months...but you know what? accidents happen.

if she wasn't on drugs, on a cell phone, drunk or any other typical distraction...then it was an accident. i don't know how many times i've been so tired in the morning on the way to work, spacing out and slammed on my breaks a little too close to the car in front, or made a left hand turn a little tight to the incoming car. i'm just saying that people make mistakes....

people that make mistakes in an accidental fashion are not a menace to society.

I know I am not perfect in any way. I do have very strong views about car accidents as I lost my husband in a car accident on his way home from work one night. My husband was was hit head on by another vehicle that drifted into his lane and the other driver drove away, never to be found. So I know the pain of losing the most important person in my life in a car accident.

That was 20 years ago this March and I live another life now. I had to get over what happened but it literally took me YEARS. I live a normal, happy life now, and I count my blessing every single ordinary day.

You said that you drive tired and then almost get in an accident and then it is just an accident - nobody's fault??? An estimated 8,000 people a year are killed by people falling asleep at the wheel. So I don't have a heck of alot of sympathy for people driving tired and then falling asleep and killing or injuring other people who happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

We are all responsible for our actions when we are the drivers of a vehicle which means - not being intoxicated or too tired to stay awake or distracted by our cell phone or IPOD or putting on mascara.
In my opinion those people are a menace to society.

People make poor decisions and accident happen but some are more avoidable than others. Peggy
