Holy Bra Fitting shocker

When I went and got sized, the SA told me that a lot of the cup sizes are the same. B and C are pretty much the same and D is not much bigger. She said it's normally all in the band size.

I really need to get fitted. I have noticed that certain bras fit better because the cups are taking in the volume/mass of the breasts up to the underarms more properly. It's not so much the circumference of the ribcage as it is the volume/mass of the breasts. Sometimes it's the other way around where a larger band size with smaller cups improve the look.

Does anyone know if Macy*s has a bra specialist?

Just make sure you go somewhere good...I had an SA try to put me in an A cup once (I am a 30 D/DD). I didn't even know what to say to her...I was with a friend and she had such a good laugh over that one.

That's true. Even though I fit into an F cup (28F), I would never be able to fit myself into something like a 36F and it's not just because of the band size being too wide but the cup size would be too large for me as well, even though they're both F cups.

I don't know if that's necessarily true? I definitely can't fit into a 32B, it has to be a 32C, if not 32C than 34C because 34Bs are always too small cup-wise. Maybe it's just me though? I do have a particularly hard time getting my breasts fully supported around the armpit area, so maybe that's why.

It probably does depend on where the bulk of your breast sits.

^^
Yeah, I have always been jealous of girls who have cleavage in the front! I fill up the back area of the cup and not so much the front. I feel like my breasts are so weird lol.

It makes perfect sense. You shouldn't be going up a band size simply trying to fit into a smaller cup size. 34B will probably be too wide in the band area which means the cups won't fit properly anyways.

I highly recommend instead of going to VS, try going to a specialized bra boutique or Nordstrom to get a proper fit for a bra by SA's who are more knowledgeable about proper fitting.

I've been wearing a 16D/DD (38D/DD) for years, I got fitted last years and it turns out I'm a 14E/F (36/DDD/E/F). My bras fit so much better now. The only problem is that 14E's are really hard to find, especially at reasonable prices.

I had a similar situation..Been always a 38C ALWAYS!!! and recently went into Macys for bras, just looking and they had a certified fitter and she put me into a 36DD ..well i was suprised.. but it felt so good so ended up with 4 .. however, of those four. i returned one cause it did not fit right. Same brand exactly. so one must always be careful and check.

I was properly fitted a couple of months ago and at first I was soooooooo pleased that I am actually a D cup not a B cup (which is what I'd been wearing). Then I realised my boobs hadn't actually gotten bigger. It's just a letter. Oh well!

Another former 36C wearer here. Nordstrom bra fitters are awesome!

+1 to whoever said that VS puts everyone in a 34/36 C because they have a ton of things in those sizes and they are easy to digest. I was stunned when my fitter recommended 32DD. At first I thought that DD was just so ridiculously huge for my small/average frame but when you think about how the cup sizes and band sizes aren't exactly mix & match (28D is not the same sized breast as 38D) it makes a little more sense.
