Hmm, I have to admit I was underwhelmed:
The setup of the pop-up store in Vienna was cute (but not different from the pics posted here)
THe SAs were really nice and helpful, the visit was a nice experience.
The offered yellow, magenta-pink, denim blue, navy blue and orange
I decided not to risk my Becanes scarf (I hoped for a light shade of burgudy), but was brave enough to give my duckies a bath: I am a bit obsessed with aquatic themed scarves, but the battered "Mare aux Canards" I got online last year had a very different vibe than expected. First I wanted to turn the blue purple with the pink dye, but the SA meant I should try the yellow. Hmm, sounds good: turn blue/red into green/orange. But since I do not like yellow close to my face I was nervous. But I never wore it anyways, I already considered turning it into a crafts project.

Today my DH went to pick it up for me and mailed me a photo: it turned neither green nor orange, it only looks dirty to me (like the yellowish stains old unused clothing gets), lost shine and brightness. They even offered him to give it a second wash with pink to turn it purple but I turned down that offer, scared of completely f:sick::sick::sick:ing it up. Last hope is it looks better in daylight, but I will have for the weekend to see it in person:sad:
Mehhh

There were quite some predyed scarves available, some very interesting ones, but most of them looked very muted.
A blue/green Persepolis caught my attention, it looked amazing, but when worn the colors made me feel like wearing scrubs (It was Stroke Unit/ICU blue and Surgery green). You can take the doc out of the hospital but you cannot take the hospital out of the doc :frown:

I've just returned and took tons of photos, including what's for sale and a batch of scarves that had just been dipped with denim blue. I posted at least 40 on my IG account (sorry, I don't have time to repost all of them here): https://www.instagram.com/joannadyne/?hl=en

I dropped off two for me: Chasse au Bois and Sangles. Both to be dipped blue. We'll see how they turn out!
Where is this store? Looks so cool!

I really like the dip dye effect on the Canards (way more interesting IMHO than the original cw) but totally understand that if the yellow doesn't work next to your skin you would be disappointed.

I think we all know how it feels to have been looking forward to something pretty and to be disappointed, and I am very sorry about it. If it doesn't look good on you, it doesn't, and that is a real let down, especially with H.

However. I hope you won't be irritated if I say I agree with shrpthorn that the dyed scarf is more interesting than the original. In fact, this is one of my favorite transformations on this thread: it might be the only time I've seen a lot of details revealed by the dye, instead of obscured by it. I am (selfishly) so glad you tried it and showed us the result.

I hope there is some way to recuperate it for you. (That pillow-cover thread comes to mind.) If not, I hope there's at least a little pleasure in having given us something so pretty to look at. :flowers:

Good evening, dear friends.

After days of deliberation, I was forced to admit that I do love all my vintage babies just the way they are. So, they are resting comfortably in their boxes as we speak...sans dye bathing. But I did check out the pop up store for fun on Friday, and pleasantly ran into the lovely Joannadynne, clad in her gorgeous De La Me au Ciel CSGM.

Spent about an hour, trying on over a dozen dip dyed scarves, from a series of Kermit Oliver's vintage, to newer beauties such as Versailles and Tyger Tyger. I went home with Hermes Electrique dipped in red dye. As promised, Joannadynne, here are some mod shots of my very first dip dye baby.....

Very nice! You picked a winner!

I'm sorry you weren't thrilled with the results! [emoji30] I'm afraid of that, too. I know what you mean about not wanting to dip it again, but if im really unhappy with it, I'll either double down on the original color to intensify it or try another one. I hope yours is better in person and that maybe the lighting was no good in the photo...

I checked out the LA pop up this afternoon. Nice set up. VERY nice SA. I didn’t do any dip-dying but I picked up a couple of Les Cles twillies that I’ve been searching high and low for.
