Hi docride! Great thread!!!!!! I'm currently looking at a vintage kelly 32 in box leather, but the seller has told me that her bag is quite dry due to it's age. It was produced in 1996 and I was hoping you could shed some light on whether the leather is already "too dry" to be saved or conditioned before I make my purchase. I have attached pictures below. Thank you!!!!! This thread is so useful!

I guess it comes down to is it in your budget ? I'm not happy with the cracks on the handle, a bag from 1996 need not have this much driness ... Have a look at the handle bases are there tears there or cracks this would be a concern for me... Check that out first... There are loads of vintage kellys out there and some are offered at good prices ... The key is condition in my book if the bag is a grea price ut the handle may tear off then you have to factor in a handle.... replacement where as the price may not still pencil for you... Have a check question about the handle bases befre you jump.... OK? Let me know
All the best,doc
