Thanks for the response! The cracking is restricted to the top of the bag and lightly on the handle. Otherwise the body is fine, still supple leather, no stiching issues, and the interior is very clean. As for what I'd like to do, I want to know if the wear on the corners coulde be repaired (redyed/reglazed?) and if the cracking will worsen. I'd also like to do something about the resin if possible.

It's a 30cm so the size works for me, and I feel it would be functional. I don't mind a bit of character in a bag, but I don't want one that is in too bad of shape or something that can't be improved with some tlc.

I'm also looking at a raisin box piano from 2002 in excellent condition...so two very different Hs.

Oh, and the seller added that there is slight dryness on the top of the handle, but that it wasn't severe. She also said no work has been done to the bag except she's applied a clear polish (Meltonian) every so often to keep the leather conditioned. There is no fading or discoloration except for the resin. Are there any other questions I should ask? Because the leather is a lighter color, can the corners/sides be touched up or will it not blend as well as it might if it were black or a darker color? What about the handle? Can it be conditioned and polished/dyed, or would I need to twilly it until I perhaps replace it? I'd be up for a project, but should I look elsewhere for one?

Thanks!

Well it's a cool bag, I'll grant you. What sort of look are you wanting to work this bag into? It has some issues ... cracks are not going to go away... that's the key issue
is the bag going to be functional for you? and Can it be functional in general?
Ask more questions, such as if the handles are cracked ?
I'll check back and see what you have discovered.

Hi doc, the area has dried and doesn't look as bad now. Is there anything I can do to mitigate the situation?

Separately, should I avoid using Apple Garde products altogether for Hermes leather? Perhaps they're too harsh? Thanks very much.

A small amount of color touch up would help it one was careful to apply it and if the color was a spot on match. Check out Tarrago color dyes or Luxury Again Color Touch Up kits coming out this April.
Yes I would just back off of using strong cleaners at this point forward. And note it could also have been a rub to begin with and you just tipped it over the edge with the cleaner you selected.

docride, thanks for all your help with my lizzie H items.

Can I use the same Fiebing's Reptile and Saphir Reptan products on my gator CDCs to clean and protect them or shall I use different products?

Hello Docride,

I would like to get some help from you :D

I owned a Lindy and I haven't been using it for a while. It was keeping in a closet. I noticed the surface has a bit of sticky feeling. Is there anyway I can clean off the stickiness of the leather? or should i try to air-dry it? I live in Hong Kong and the weather is a bit humidity right now.

thanks so much in advance.

Cleaning is a good start.... Try a good leather cleaner, Lexol H wipes or Luxury Again Cleanser wipes. Do keep in mind that the dark marks are now more than likely permanent stains now....

Start there and see how it looks... OK?

Well in this case the bag should be conditioned. any feel that applying polish conditions the leather enough when in fact most heavy waxy polishes can contribute to dryness. I like to recommend removing/ cleaning off all the old polish, do any color touch ups and then deep condition the leather finishing with a good neutral polish
Certainly color touch ups wont be as easy to make a match as with black color but it can be done reasonably well in the right hands and with good products.

I hope this helps?

Hi doc,

It is in clemence leather. I let it air dry since yesterday. It still feel a bit sticky. I don't see any visible change on the leather except a few white dust on the bag due to the stickness. Is there any treatment I can apply on it ? I don't want to send it to a spa yet.

I did apply a bit of apple conditioner at the corner and the stickness seems much less than before.

Thanks

Thank you so much. I purchased it for $1.50; just wanted to show it some respect. I will get to work, thanks again.
