Hi Docride,

This isn't H specific but I've read enough in the forums to know you know everything about leather: what advice would you give to someone who just ran a Bottega Veneta lambskin woven leather wallet through the washing machine? Are there better ways to dry it out so as not to harm the leather even more, and to avoid mildew or anything else from developing inside?

Thanks in advance for any advice you might provide!

Hi there. Just purchased an Hermes 1952 Piano bag with the linen exterior and tan leather. It has been in a humid climate for a long while and has spot all over it. Not sure how to tend to it.

Please view photos from original ebay listing:

Your help would be much appreciated.

Best,

I hope this works for you. I am not very savvy when it comes to technology. I have not received the bag yet, and asked the seller if the bag smelled musty, etc. She stated that the spots on the leather were there when she bought the bag 25+ years ago and that it did not smell moldy/musty, just old. I can take care of the canvas, but am wondering how to approach the leather.

Thanks so much,

Elizabeth

Hi Docride!
First, let me express my appreciation for all of the time you take to help everyone on this forum. Your knowledge, patience and expertise are DEEPLY valued.

I am contemplating buying a vintage black box Kelly (1991). The photos show some slight wrinkling and fine lines in several areas (near the turnlock and by the stitching on the front panel). Are these anything to worry about, or will I or H spa be able to fix or minimize them? My main concern is that these are not an indication of excessive dryness or any other "real" problem.

THANK YOU!!!!!

Hello, The bag has some dryness but over all looks to be in excelent shape aside from that. A good cleaning and conditioning followed by a good neutral polish will make it look much better although some of the texture you see now will be present to some degree afterward. I hope that helps? All the best, doc

Hi Doc,

I recently purchased a pair of Mocha Box Jumping boots. My DBF suggested that I polish them before wearing them the first time (which he has offered to do for me.)

I bought two products from Saphir- the Saphir Renovateur and the Pommadier Cream shoe polish. Should I use either or both of these, or is there something else you would recommend (I live in the US)? My SA didn't have any advice for boot care.

The boots are brand new, so I want to start off with the proper treatment.

Thanks so much for all of your wonderful advice and help!:smile1:

Hello, I have answered this same question several times here within this thread, and luckily my thoughts are still the same. For Box Calf Jumping boots I like Obenauf's LP Heavy duty 2x followed by a round of Blackrocks Leather N Rich (you can use your Sapphire product instead)and stop if you like a soft glow finish or final step with some neutral polish (sapphir polish will be fine here)if you like shine . Enjoy your new boots:smile1:
