More than almost every other country in the world, for sure, especially with the strength of the yen. From my experience with Birkins and Kellys, Tokyo prices can easily be at least 40-50% higher than Paris, which is among the cheapest places for Hermes.

In Ginza, Brandoff, across Mitsuokoshi department store.

In Shinjuku, Komehyo, across Isetan Department store.

Resellers have a very large selection of bags of all types in many colours and leathers. Have fun!:smile1:

last i remembered a croc kelly pochette was running ~Y1,400,000. (Around US$16k?)

Ouch! :wtf: My last croc KP from the US was just under USD11K before tax! I recently passed on an ostrich Kelly from a Tokyo boutique because it was about 40% higher than other Asian (except China) countries, which are already 10-15% higher than the US.

It is sometimes cheaper to buy from an online reseller than to buy direct from Tokyo boutiques. And of course, Tokyo resellers would charge a higher premium that the boutiques, which adds even further to the cost. I think ILML mentioned that Japan is simply too expensive when it comes to Hermes.

thanks for the wonderful information. i am so bummed that i did not have this information when i was in tokyo this Jan 09! i did go to Komehyo and they have two locations. one is right across from Isetan and the other is next to a huge Muji store (next to a giant train station and within walking distance from Hermes Ginza).

as someone has pointed out, tokyo is fantastic for seeing "real life" items that you can only imagine. while the prices are higher, i'd have to say that if you wait for your order in your own country, by the time you get your order, it may have gone through several price increases and already surpassed the prices you've seen in tokyo. so that's a factor to think about.

but thanks again for all the links and clear information. i'd have to copy all these info into my PDA so that i have it ready when i go to japan again! thanks!

I know that it's hard for non-Japanese speaker to find Hermes reseller shops, as they tell their address in Japanese in website. First time visitors may find it difficult but it's not that difficult at all;) Please feel free to add more details.

Here is a map of Ginza. If I have more time(hopefully), I will add more locations.;)

Some very Parisian excitement in Tokyo
After London, Monaco, Geneva and Lausanne, Ladurée continues its’ journey and opens on one of the most beautiful avenues in the world: “Ginza”.
David Holder, the President of Ladurée, has wished for several years that our House could blossom in Japan.
Following a meeting with the President of Mitsukoshi, an iconic department store in Japan, David Holder decided to open his first Ladurée Tea Room.

This is a great idea!

Here is my contribution for Shinjuku area -

There are quite a number of resellers in Shinjuku area (I think there are 2 daikokuyas, with a few others when you walk around the same area).

There are 2 types of daikokuya in Shinjuku, but they're worth seeing:
