Thank you @excalibur @usako1973 for your insights! They are very helpful! Since I will be staying close by Takashiyama, I guess I may head into H to get some help in directions to the Shinjuku station during my stay. :graucho:
Just an update from my trip. I dropped by both Takashiyama & Isetan Shinjuku & Omote-sando H stores (didn't wake up early to line-up). Selections were very very limited. They all had bags to 'view', but not to buy. I believe I just missed that boat as I saw another local shopper purchasing a halzan at the cashier while I got into the shop. Whenever I mentioned earrings, they immediately asked gold or silver. I assume they were referring to fine jewelleries not fashion ones. I was able to get 2 pair of shoes not available in my size in my home country. But most shoes showing as available online in Japan were not available in the store. Duty free was empty as well as the SAs hinted most 'saleable' items were sold early in the day. My flight was late in the evening, so nothing was left. Hope that helps other future shoppers & good luck.

Hi! I actually live in Tokyo and since I turn 35 this year (yuck), I thought I could/should try for a B or K. I have no experience with Hermes here, just Gucci/Saint Laurent/Celine. Would you mind sharing some of these blogs? Japanese is OK; I read/speak it just fine.

I have a few months before my birthday and could make some spends. (Any suggestions welcome!) I prefer Omotesando as it's close to home, but if the Ginza store is better, I can definitely go there. The resale market here is simply too insane — ¥3-5 mil for bags! I regret not buying a 90s black Kelly I saw for ¥1 mil during 2020 at one of the resale shops. I fear the return of tourists is driving up the prices.
I'm so sorry w/being late in replying, I honestly thought I already wrote/sent my reply!
For japanese blogs, I usually go through ameblog(アメブロ)which has lots of people talking about their shopping experience in Hemres (some in a funny way, some dead serious. Lots of people reporting their Hermes Patrol, which people here call their daily Hermes visit to find a free B/K). I wouldn't take all of them seriously, but it will at least let you see what everyone is interested in, and what's going around.
Yes, the resell market is crazy high, especially for the small size bags. I think its gotten worse because the Japanese reseller market is so popular worldwide, they can sell stuff even at that price range. I haven't really gone to omotesando much (just once or twice to get my scarf dip dyed), so I really can't say for sure of how the stock and variety is for there. As I've said before, Ginza is the flagship maison, so the number of stock will be the highest in Japan, but it also means you will have lots of people to compete with. If omotesando is easier for you to access, I would try to find an SA there you can click with, and start from there. I don't have any suggestions about what to buy, I'm sure there's lots of people who can comment on that better than me (I'm mainly a scarf fiend, so my shopping list will make no sense for most people lol). Hope this helps!
PS- please don't yuck your 35! As an almost 50 person, it's an absolutely wonderful age to be!!

Thank you!! Ahhhh アメブロ lol. I have a love/hate relationship with those sites. They're so "Japanese web design," but can be quite useful! I'll check them out this week when I'm bored.

I tried swinging by the Omotesando store on Friday after a doctor appointment, but there was a LONG line and I had to meet a friend in Sangenjaya for dinner. The weather is a lot nicer this week anyway, so I'll try again! I'd like to get my mom a scarf anyway before her first trip to Europe this fall, so that could be a good entry point for me.

Greetings. Any info on English-speaking SAs at Ginza? Also, how early to arrive, 9:30am? May visit while I'm there next week. Thanks.
I think there are SAs who can help you out in English since there’s so many tourists coming through. If you want to score a bag, getting there early prob is a must. I’ve gotten to the ginza store at 10 (first day for new scarves) and there were already 6-7 people in line. I reckon you might want to get there earlier, but the bag stock is really low nowadays so I would keep your expectations low.

I just checked out the Hermes store in Ginza. This store is a lot bigger than my home store. It's practically the whole building. I saw a lot of B/K/C on display and even their non quota bags but says not for sale. Everyone seemed friendly. I did ask if the cater to tourist and what are the chances of getting a birkin offer, the SA said that it is offered at the "right" timing.

I recently got back from tokyo last week. I went to ginza, takashimaya and at haneda airport. No bag when I asked. I managed to get a calvi in etoupe at the Haneda Airport. Due to time, i could only visit each store once.

I spoke english to staff, and they know well enough to help me. Ginza is bigger than my home store in the US (i would say Ginza reminds me of Madison in NYC).

I had such an amazing time in Japan!

Anyone knows how much is the tax refund for tourists? I'm going there this June and I'm reaaaaallly hoping I could score either a B25 or B30.
just checked my receipt...for the shoes i got were 10% tax, but depends where you make the purchase. If the H store uses a 3rd party to process, there's admin fee, i.e. if you buy inside Isetan. My Omotesando purchase was charged at retail price without tax, so full 10%. From my Feb visit, all bags, twillies, RTWs, SLGs, shoes purchases were difficult, let alone QBs. They only had 1 men's tote available for sale, everything else were display only.
