Hello there, I'm a newcomer to this forum!
I'm Japanese and have been a H lover these 5 years(newbie, I know). I live in Tokyo.
My honest impression is, for at least this past year, bags (not even non-QB) have become very scarce in H stores.
As some people have observed, the 'display only' bags have become the norm, and I haven't seen many bags that you can buy freely at the store. (I think I saw one picotin and Lindy 26 last year, and the new canvas tote bags, but that was about it)
The Ginza, Omotesando, and Marunouchi store are probably your best bet as the sheer number of bags that will probably be allocated, but because there will be a higher percentage of people flocking to the flagship stores, it will probably be pure luck if you can get a bag. The department store shops usually have less stock, but because the customer number are a bit less, you MAY have a chance of finding something. (BTW Shinjuku Isetan is a very different story compared to other department store shops. I feel it's more close to a flagship store)
If I was visiting Tokyo and had free time, I would probably hit the Ginza store first, try Shinjuku Isetan and Omotesando, and if I had extra time would go around the department stores. But I think for the time being, the chance of getting a QB easily in Japan might not be realistic for now.

Thank you so much for sharing! I’m thinking about visiting Japan soon, and was originally hoping to try my hand at the Ginza flagship store, however, after reading your post, I think I can now have a more realistic expectation of how productive shopping will be. So thank you so much for sharing your opinion.

I was in Japan March-April this year and queued up at the Ginza flagship twice. On both days, a staff member came out 5 minutes before opening to announce to the line that no birkin, kelly, constance, picotin, bolide, or lindy were available that day. The only popular bags for sale were a garden party 30 (looked like gris tourterelle or similar color) or a herbag, which were both bought by the first parties in line. There was a good assortment of exotic non-quota bags available, including a 2002 and della cavalleria, as well as the new suitcases (RMS). They also had some rare pieces from the 2022 summer RTW collection which I couldn't find in the US.

Overall, Ginza is great if you're looking for more esoteric pieces but stock of the more popular models is bare. If you do get lucky and they have a quota bag that day, you'd need to arrive around 9:30am to be first in line and be able to buy them.
Is Constance bag considered a quota bag in Ginza?

Thank you for sharing May I know in Japan do H stores require tourists to hit a predefined prespend amount before being offered any quota bags?

I love Japan and my family usually visit 2-3 times a year.

As a local, I’m afraid I would not have any knowledge of how tourists would be treated by SAs…I’ve also been closely watching Japanese H blogs, and have never seen a Japanese SA specifically say that a certain amount must be used to receive a QB. I think the consensus is though prespending is encouraged, it isn’t the requirement. Most people attach acquiring QBs on the size of your store and the power your SA has within the store, and your relationship with your SA. My gut feeling is that if you can create a good relationship with your SA, and she/he feels you’re in for the long run, they will feel more inclined to introduce bags you want.
This might be a difficult thing for someone who visits only a few times a year, esp with the influx of tourists and the scarcity of bags, but I would advise you find a SA you click with, try to have a connection with him/her, and meet up whenever you’re back in japan. I’m sorry if I haven’t really answered your question, hope this helps.

Hi! I actually live in Tokyo and since I turn 35 this year (yuck), I thought I could/should try for a B or K. I have no experience with Hermes here, just Gucci/Saint Laurent/Celine. Would you mind sharing some of these blogs? Japanese is OK; I read/speak it just fine.

I have a few months before my birthday and could make some spends. (Any suggestions welcome!) I prefer Omotesando as it's close to home, but if the Ginza store is better, I can definitely go there. The resale market here is simply too insane — ¥3-5 mil for bags! I regret not buying a 90s black Kelly I saw for ¥1 mil during 2020 at one of the resale shops. I fear the return of tourists is driving up the prices.

Hello, would anyone mind sharing their shopping experiences at H Takashiyama & Isetan? I see some shoes online that I'm interested in, but wonder which location will have a better chance of having these shoes in store, and variety of other items, SLGs, RTWs & bigger size non-quota bags. I will be in Tokyo tomorrow, but only staying for a few days. Thanks in advance.

I visited both Taka & Isetan several times in the morning right when they opened. No stocks on bags and wallets (I didn’t buy anything else prior to asking). Lots of local people were also turned down, looks like now we need to have a prespend and a bag would magically appear :)
Enjoy Tokyo it’s a lovely place to be! After getting my self tired with H and their “sorry no stock” answers, I visited LV cafe in Ginza and had a nice cup of latte :)

Just in size of stock, Isetan wins on all rounds for most items IMHO. But because of that, there’s more customers (there will usually be a line to get in), so the turn around of stock is also quicker. For Rtw, Isetan already had their pretaporte in stock dec-Jan, so findings are scarce. Takashimaya actually had its rtw release last weekend, so you might chance on a few things more ( though most popular knits and coats have probably sold out). They also restocked scarves for the release event, so if you’re looking for some new things, they might have something in stock. Hope you enjoy Tokyo!

Thank you @excalibur @usako1973 for your insights! They are very helpful! Since I will be staying close by Takashiyama, I guess I may head into H to get some help in directions to the Shinjuku station during my stay. :graucho:
