Let me start of by saying that the service at Ginza is still top notch to say the least. If ever there are some hiccups, it is really because the sheer number of people who want to buy a B/K at any of the Japan H stores.

They will still sell a B/K to anyone at Ginza and you have a very good chance in the morning when the store opens. Unfortunately, this will involve some determination on your part as many will try the luck at the same time as you. My SA says that the internet has turned their jobs harder because people are now wanting to try their luck in Japan and is pushing their supply system to the limit.

It all starts by waiting for the store to open at 11am. If you want to be sure to be #1 on the line, you have to be there no later than 10am in my observation. By 10;45, there are probably 10-15 people waiting in line at the store front. I take it as a good sign when the doorman comes out early that there is indeed B/Ks ready to be sold since he makes sure the line outside the store is organised and orderly as there are some stubborn tourists who refuse to accept that there is a line and try to muscle their way in. Most people in line are dressed to the nines with their H goodies proudly worn or carried but they certainly won't treat you any different if you are dressed more casual.

When the doors open at 11, this is when the magic happens. The door man lets you in one by one in a staggered fashion and as soon as you enter, all the SAs of the store are lined up on the left and right creating a pathway to the elevators. They bow down one by one as you go pass them. Sort of like an honour guard on the red carpet. When you reach the end, they give you a chip signifying your place in line and are directed to the elevators to the 4th floor.

Once at the 4th floor, whatever B/K available at that time is proudly displayed on the counter and no one is allowed to go near them except the current chip. No.1 gets first pick, so on and so forth. Once all the B/Ks are sold, they then open the floor to everyone. Unfortunately, there are some rude people who insist to see the bags that have been sold and are waiting to be packed in boxes. You could also hear some complaints of why they sold bags to the people first in line and not them. Hello! you guys didn't wait an hour outside so don't complain.

Anyway, just goes to show that they don't hold out over there. They will sell to walk-ins whatever they have. There are days that there are multiple bags while there are days that they only have one. If the doorman does not bother to check the line before opening, its a sign that they do not have anything on that particular morning.

I was looking for something very particular this trip so I was not able to buy anything but I did miss out on a black B35 one afternoon. If I approached an SA earlier, I may have gotten it but another lady asked by mere seconds ahead of me. Oh well, I was looking for a blue shade this time around anyways.

Thanks for sharing! This is very helpful. I'm off to Japan tomorrow for 6 days so I will try my luck in Osaka and then Tokyo. I will update whether I'm lucky/unlucky there. 😄

Good luck! Looking forward to hearing about your trip! [emoji4]

So here's my experience at H in Osaka. I am here for 2 days only so I went to H at Takashimaya dept store, the store was very quiet, I was approached by an SA immediately. I asked for leather accessories in rose Tyrien for a friend and rodeos but they had nothing. I asked for B30 or K25/28 or 32 in dark or neutral colours. She said she would check but came back in 2 minutes to say they don't have anything. I thanked her and left. I walked to the other big H store in shinsaibashi. Here the SAs were really unfriendly and even though the store wasn't busy, they said NO to everything I asked for even before they checked the system or drawers. Their manners were quite curt which is not something I'm used to in Japan where everyone is so polite. I went off for lunch and then went shopping around Takashimaya dept store again. I went back to H in case they had a delivery. I was helped by a different SA, I gave ger my wish list and she came back to say she had a croc Kelly 35 in black which isn't something I was looking for so I thanked her and left. So no luck so far in Japan but I'm off to Tokyo for 4 days tomorrow.....

Thanks for the update! I'm not surprised you were perplexed by the unfriendly service at one of the H stores...my experience of Japanese SAs (and Japanese people generally) is also that they are very polite! Sorry to hear you haven't found what you're looking for yet. Good luck and looking forward to hearing your experiences in Tokyo especially as I'll be there later this year too

I've been to the Chiyoda store last year, and I have to say the service was amazing, with a large inventory too! My husband purchased a watch for me there, and I decided to ask if there were any lindys in stock. I had a few B's already but I wanted to get a blue lindy as an everyday bag. My lovely SA typed away on her computer and she told me she just had a blue croc lindy shipment! Saw it and I fell in love instantly. Not quite an everyday bag, but it does fit in my criteria right? :p

Lovely!!!!

I've seen these tourists who insist and push and yell and demand. People who carry a box on their way out of the store get dagger shots by the waiting crowd. Lots of ugly expressions. The lack of manners and good graces are appalling by Japanese standards. The line is beginning to sound like the queue at FSH except first come first served.
I take my shopping elsewhere at Hermes rather than Ginza.

Oh wow....I can picture in my head even tho I haven't been to jp

Any luck in Tokyo? Fingers crossed for you! [emoji4]

Thanks. I visited the store in Ginza and Takashimaya but decided that I didn't want to waste my holiday time queuing and hunting for H bags so I didn't get up early to go queue up. It's nice to see H stores though [emoji1]

Haha I totally understand! How was the stock more generally (ie not just B/K but also other bags/ small leather goods?) thanks! [emoji4]

Stock is quite good if you love pink! Most of the small accessories were in pastel or bright pink. I didn't see any GP, Lindys or Picotin. There were Victoria, Jypsiere and small Berlines. There are a lot of resellers stores around the shopping areas as well but the price is double the normal retail price in Europe.

That's great! I was hoping to get some pink small accessories when I'm there! [emoji4] yes I've heard resellers are expensive there! I hope you manage to pick up something lovely from H while you are there [emoji4]
