If you’re talking about choosing the model (b or k), leather, color, hardware, stitching - it is a special order and different from the regular offers.

If not, on the other hand, your SA is asking you to be flexible on your options, maybe the color you are asking for is not in season, and because with Hermes we dont usually, if not most of the time, get exactly what we asked for. Example, like what the other members here have mentioned, you asked for a birkin 25 gold togo in ghw, your SA might offer you Chai or Biscuit instead, or gold togo in phw. It is up to you whether to accept such offer or not and it may or may not affect future offers.

I'm guessing mine is certainly a regular offer and definitely not a special order. I was quite specific with my SA for example I shared I was keen on a Birkin 25 in a couple of shades of green or blue both with PHW and I am quite open in terms of leather. I was told in Singapore such colors never come in so I should consider neutrals.

Our conversation went radio silent thereafter because I am not sure what I should do. The question in my head at the moment is should I press on to wait for the colors I requested or buy the color my SA presents to me which is not what my wife would want.

You can indicate the desired specifications (colour, hardware, leather) to the SA and be clear about how flexible you are willing to be (e.g., this specific combination and nothing else, or be open to other colours in same family etc.). If the specific colour is not in season (i.e., not being produced), then Hermes won't be able to offer it. Also, Special Orders (SOs) are a whole different ballgame.

In general, customers shouldn't have to purchase what is offered. But I do think it would not reflect well on your profile if you reject a QB that you had asked for...

I find it rather hard to believe they won't get any green or blues (seasonal colours). Could it be your SA/ SM strongly prefers your wife's first QB to be a neutral instead? You might have a much better chance due to the orders placed by the store.

Hmmm I don't think it's true that Singapore never gets greens or blues. In fact, I got a green (Vert de Gris) for first QB in 2021. Did you ask for specific greens or blues (vs. being open to entire shade families such as greens, which was what I said prior to being offered a VDG)?

Regardless, in general, I wouldn't recommend settling (and asking for a neutral). You should definitely get a bag that your wife would love.

Hi there. I very new to this journey hence I almost believed my SA that my only option is neutral until I spent some time to read this forum. To be honest I have no idea if this was the preference of the SA or store manager because this was my first ever conversation about the bag. Maybe I'll have another chat with my SA and understand further.

Hello everyone. I am new to this forum.

Before I begin I want to thank everyone for graciously sharing your thoughts and experience as it has been helpful to new shoppers like me.

I have spent sometime reading this thread and have a question. Can you please share your expertise.

I have been shopping at Hermes for about five months buying only items I love. Recently my SA and I had a chat about the wish list. This was really exciting because we never once spoke about this and naturally I would love to get my wife a bag. I shared with my SA the bag model and specifications but I was told the color I requested is not available. My SA suggested to get more common colors which are neutral colors but the challenge is my wife is not a fan of these colors.

My question is are we allowed to choose the color or hardware or leather we would like to purchase or we have to purchase what is offered to us? I have read that shoppers typically share the wish list with the SA and the SA put the request forward to the Store Manager. Upon approval the bag will be made and the client can expect the bag in the coming months.

I am sorry if this question sounds very amateur but actually I am very lost at the moment. Thank you.

Initially I was thinking of accepting any neutral color but having heard all of the opinions here I guess I have will speak with my SA again.

This was last year haha. I haven’t been to H in SG for almost a year but my SA told me a few days back that it wouldn’t be a problem sourcing bags in colours / neutrals. He only said it would be “harder” when I asked for box leather haha.

Have any of you ever dropped by the H store unannounced/ without appointment to browse? What is the reaction of your SA? I sometimes feel that my SA is not keeping me up to date on new arrivals and I'm tired of having to text her every week to ask. Rather than waiting for something on my wishlist to arrive, which is now often the case (and imo, takes the fun out of shopping), I prefer to randomly come across something I like and purchase it right away.

Hey Dylan, I’m guessing that you asked for aqua (which thus far on IG we’ve only seen it in Mini Kelly and nothing else), vert absinthe (zero posts on on IG of this legendary green) and either Blue Royal or Blue France. How you can check on IG is to type #hermes(the colour) eg #hermesaqua and check if there are any IG posts at all. And you have to look for U stamp ie this year’s bag.

If there’s nothing it really means that there’s really nothing coming in as your SA explained. And then see if your wifey wants to pick another colour? There are other blues available eg Celeste (but it’s premium colour ie means your spending must be higher). Hope I’m not making it more confusing for you.

Hmmm… you brought an interesting point about higher prespend. May it be the case that your SA try to “help” you to get sth really “worth” your prespend? Some may have spent more than 16-18k or more than 1:1 to get neutrals. It’s more difficult in general to get neutrals for 1st qb (of cos there are always exception & differences dependent on the SA & store too). So maybe ur SA wants to give u the most bang for the buck for ur qb? I dunno. Just a random thought…
