i got my birkins 30 in tokyo ginza at abt jpy1,000,000, not $16K... so still cannot pay for my trip to paris...

Sorry, what i have quoted is in SGD.

Birkins 35 in Singapore is SGD14,100

In Tokyo, 1,040,000Yen -7% VAT= SGD14,663

In Paris, 5700EURO - 12% VAT = SGD10,123

but the difference is Tokyo price and Paris price is S$4,540. I guess the expenses of the whole trip should not exceed S$2,000. The cheapest air ticket now is MAS S$1070 , one night average hotel stay should be S$200. The basic only S$1670. Thus, there will still be a leftover of almost S$3,000! Shopping money for other brands.

I am lucky as I am redeeming my KF miles, thus flying Biz/First class in SQ for only S$470 for taxes and fuel. Thus in my case, it is very worth it for me to purposely fly there to get a Birkins. It is a hit or miss, if i miss it, I just treat it as a shopping getaway since is Paris summer sales period. Rather than wait for 2 years or more in Singapore or pay a higher premium for Birkins elsewhere.

That is my 2 cents worth though.

Well, I ever heard my friend said before, anyone can also afford to buy branded but personally buying it in the flagship store in its country of origin is a simply different satisfaction.

The actual VAT refund amount is closer to 9%. Hermes in France processes their own refunds and the refund is only 10% of your purchase value on your credit card. Because credit card exchange rates are typically poorer than interbank rates, you lose another 1% in exchange. Buying Hermes outside of France would usually net you a better refund %, but prices are marginally higher as well.

Thank you for the clarification. I only purchase Chanel and LV before from Paris which gives me a 12% VAT refund. But compared, the 3 countries, I think Paris is still the cheapest.

hello nice people of the hermes thread :D
!!!!
im so excited to hear that the birkin list is open again in singapore!!!!

but anyone has any idea if there is a chance to ever purchase a HAC here..
probably a hac 40 or 50? i dunno the sizes too well.....

thanks for the info!!

I had called hermes to enquiry about the waiting list. The sales staff told me it is closed. Do i have to go down the boutique personally then? If i can be on the waiting list, can i choose the color or size and leather i want?
My friend told me about the Ginza shop selling birkin, the bags should be authentic right?
Hmm... i want a blue jean toga 30. :)
Thanks for any advice

Interesting sums meowcsj! A birkin 35 in Australia is in the A$12,XXX mark so lets say A$12,800 (I know a togo 30 is A$11,700) and converting roughly to SGD using 15% and removing the 10% GST would make the birkin around SGD10,120. Hmmm. I thought Paris would be a lot cheaper!

Waowww...this sounds really good  SGD 10,120 for a BIRKIN

If you get to put your name on the list, you have 3 choices to list color, size, leather and hardware.

The list was open as of 1.5 months ago... I don't know if they've already filled the quota since then, since I haven't checked.
