I've owned this shawl now for almost 6 years - bought it at the Paris sales. I've never known its name and would love to do so.

I love the rich colors, and especially the bits of turquoise.

Where's Seton when I need her! She knew EVERYTHING about scarves/shawls!

The name is top center - your photo is upside down

This is Tibet by Cathy Latham - Oops - I see you've found it!

Thank you in advance!!

Dont know the name of the scarf. Actually, it is probably (technically) a pochette - man's pocket scarf - not a gavroche , a ladies neck scarf, due to the repeating small motifs on the design.

It is exceedingly rare that anyone would know the name of a mans pocket scarf design or when it came out.

It is very common for the dyes not to soak through to the other side and for the other side to look different

Quick question (not too far off topic, I hope): Do you mean that a different-looking back is common for Hermes in general or just for the man's pocket scarf? I am used to looking at pictures of the back of a scarf to help me judge whether an Hermes scarf for sale online might be fake. I look at other things too, of course, but am I wrong to look for the dye to have come through to the back?

There are many ladies and mens scarves where the dyes are not equal on both sides, sometimes yes, sometimes no.

I have this design in my database as Papyrus,1982, Joachim Metz. Please post here if you find that not to be true.

Thanks sdsurfchick! I tried several Egyptian style search terms but didn't come up with anything resembling this one. I was a little concerned because it just didn't seem to have the same "panache" that other designs do, maybe it's the CW of it...anyway. Mystery solved! Searched on that name and came up with some images to look at.

I too have that as the date, name & artist BUT I have never seen that written down in a caatalog/booklet so I can be sure

It is not signed, I think

Some people call it PYRAMIDES so you may find it on the internet under that alias

Yes, 1982 seems plausible - it is another one in a succession of Egyptian scarves from the 80s Egypte, King Tut, Ramses ...
