Scarves Hermès Scarf Identification

Bonjour,

I just purchased a Gastronomie carre in black. I believe it is a reissue of the 1963 Gastronomie by Christiane Vauzelles: http://www.luxury-scarves.com/en/10_database/colorway.php?ID=394

I am not certain of the date of this design. The original was released in 1963, with a reissue in 1965, I believe, yet I cannot find a reliable source that dates the black colorway.

I am also unable to locate the name of the design or the artist's name on the scarf itself. Seton's original post in this thread says that approximately 75% of H scarves have the title somewhere on the scarf. And in this article in Elle (http://www.ellecanada.com/fashion/trends/fashion-accessories-the-hermes-scarf/a/78355#.U7RnvKgZx_x), a source identified as Kamel Hamadou, communications manager says:
There are three things to look for on every authentic Hermès carré.
1. The artist’s signature.
2. The Hermès-Paris copyright.
3. The name of the scarf.

I purchased my Gastronomie from a reliable Seller, and I have no reason to doubt its authenticity, yet it is quite curious that I cannot locate either the artist's signature or the name of the scarf in the design itself.

I have searched tPf, as well as the databases on luxury-scarves.com and HSCI, and I have been unsuccessful in locating the year of reissue for the noir colorway. So this scarf presents three mysteries to be solved.

Anyone up for playing detective?

I am a total newbie to scarf identification. I have recently stumbled upon some vintage silk scarves that have been in my family for decades. I have been able to identify one as a vintage Chanel, another vintage Dior, and a third as a Odyssey Cruises World of Homer Scarf
Sun Line - Stella Maris. The others however, do not appear to be unmarked. Could you please tell me the best way to go about identifying these? I have tried numerous sites but cannot seem to locate them.

Welcome to The Purse Forum, mail2tre! You will find these forums filled with passionate, generous, knowledgeable people who are happy to talk about scarves, bags, and shoes.

What a tremendous find you've made!

If you could upload a photo of each individual scarf, we will assist you in identifying your mystery scarves. If you have any scarves that measure 90 cm square, it's possible they are Hermes. If so, I am confident we can get those identified for you.

I do hope the scarves are in good condition. If any are soiled, please do not attempt to clean them yourself or even send them to your local dry cleaner. It takes a certain technique to preserve the scarves' special qualities, like the hand-rolled hems, which most cleaners are not equipped to handle properly. Hermes sends scarves to TieCrafters in NYC for cleaning, and you can do the same. They will take excellent care of your treasures and return them to you with hems nicely plumped and proper folds.

Again, welcome to The Purse Forum!

Thanks! I've been thinking of buying one but I prefer to do my research first, and generally buy from a boutique to be sure of getting the real thing but none of the stores I use seem to have any...

I really like plisses - they are easy to tie and I actually prefer some designs/colors in plisse than flat. Guess that means I am more into the color than the pattern! Alphabets Russe in the steel blue is one of these. My boutique keeps plisses in a drawer - the coveted shelf space goes to other scarfs or jewelry. If you hunt around you could probably find some photos of Kate Hudson wearing plisses - they look really great on her, just casually tossed on.

Don't give up yet!! At least give them a try - they come with their own little booklet to show you some ways to tie them.

Hello ladies and Gs,

New here. I was clearing out our home and ran across an old Hermes scarf that has never been opened. It's been shoved away in a drawer all this time - LOL. The original packaging is still sealed and in place. I bought it decades ago, back in the early 80's. I got it from Singapore Airlines' duty free shopping.

I haven't the foggiest which one it is. I've tried googling 'hermes scarf watches' and singular, too, but it has not come up. It looks like a deep blue stripe (not black). Can anyone identify it for me please? Since I don't want to open it, I'd like to see an on-line photo of it, too, to see what it looks like. Oh, and that is just a reflection you see on the right side of the photos, not damage to the wrapping.

Thanks!

Dear all,

I have a question that has been bugging me for three years already, does the first issue of Astrologie have a copyright mark? I know that Hermes started copyrighting their scraves in the 60's but not all eraly 60's scarves have a (C). The later issues have (c) near Hermes Paris, the modern ones in the corner under the Leo sign, but what about the 1963 issue? It's just that I have a scarf that has all the authentic traits, except for the copyright and looks really old and I really want to know for sure =)))))
Thank you in advance!!
