Help! Need info about shawl. Posted on another thread in 10/08 prior to my noticing your site. The attached photos are of an Hermes shawl I purchased at Beverly Hills, CA Hermes in the 70s. Need info about the shawl's style, designer, fabric content, etc. Unfortunately, there is no label. Is there an Hermes product pictorial library/database and/or an Hermes employee/retiree that can provide me with information about this shawl? [Corrected photo attachments]

All I can tell you about this is that it seems to be mohair. Sorry, that's all!

You could try sending H customer service an email with photographs. They have identified things for me before. I may take a few days though. good luck!

This seller sells authentic. HOWEVER, this seller is known for showing a picture of the sale "s" stamp without a mention or explanation in the text. As long as you are fine with that, go for it. Grand Roue is so often faked that you HAVE to buy it from a seller who specializes in H scarves.
Hello all, I'm new here.
Could you please explain me what does SALE STAMP mean for Hermes scarf?
Is it really bad if Hermes scarf has S stamp?
Is it possible that Hermes scarf with S stamp is fake?
I saw some Hermes scarfs on Ebay with this stamp. I liked them but I got confused.
Sorry for so many questions but I will appreciate if someone explain me about pros and cons of the matter.

Vita, I am a newbie to scarves too but S denotes sale and as a buyer of one, you should theoretically pay less for an s scarf than one without. If you decide to sell the S scarf in the future, you should disclose because it affects price and salability. It is also important to look where the s appears - hopefully other posters can enlighten - I am not sure.

I would buy an s scarf in a heartbeat if I loved the pattern. Many members here would have paid an above retail premium for Cheval sur mon carre GM cashmere which appeared at the hermes sale in Paris. A few of them were resold at a markup. A few other favorites are reconotre ocean and grand fonds.

It can theoretically appear anywhere depending on how painstaking the person that is doing the stamping.

Usually it is on the caretag

It might be on the wrong side of the silk under the caretag

If on the silk, it might show through to the other side

So, all sale scarves are not equally desirable: in addition to a badly placed S, they may have defects as well

Marietouchet,
Thank you for your reply.
The scarf I liked had S stamp on a caretag.
I have a few Hermes mousseline bought at a local Hermes boutique.
All of them have black care tags.
That scarf from Ebay had white caretag with S on it.
I noticed that many of mousseline on Ebay have white caretags.
Are they all fake?

They usually use white tags on light scarves & black on darker ones. But, that rule gets broken about 10 % of the time

Mousse is problematic since it is somewhat see-through.

A black tag on a light scarf would be unsightly ? perhaps these were sale scarves
