I find this unacceptable. No tailoring repair should cause outward damage (WTF Knots????) to a piece of NEW clothing. And, if in the normal course of ordinary wear, an item is not functional, this should be addressed immediately by the SA (and sorted out via the SM.

I also find your SAs suggestion unacceptable: that you find a third party professional to rectify the damage the boutique has caused in a failed attempt to remedy a design defect. I’m sorry this happened to you
Thank you for the reassurance, I've started to question my sanity given the situation seems so absurd. To be clear, my SA (currently standing in for the SM) asked me to visit the external tailor that has worked on the pants. Still, I feel this is a bit much to ask of a customer, especially given they are not doing me a favour but vice versa. She told me they had sold the pants to other customers who had no problems, thus insinuating that I'd be the cause of the problem (I wouldn't even know how). Curious what Paris will decide, this may take a couple of months once I've handed the pants in, so probably nearing a full year then after the purchase was made.

I would contact Amex to see what the options are for a charge back and (if this were me, I would inform them *of my intention to write a polite, factual , scathing letter to customer service (cc them)

Regardless of whether some anonymous manager deems a design a defect, the inability of an SA to handle client concerns is inexcusable. Palming off responsibility by asking you to visit Hermes ‘s third party repair is NOT taking responsibility or luxury service.

The SA was on notice that this was an ongoing concern. This isn’t a 50USD top from a department store. I wish you the best of luck.

ETA: in any problem from Spa or tailoring, a luxury client relies on one’s SA to be an advocate for positive change. If your SA is gas lighting you, it’s a serious impediment to getting satisfactory resolution of legitimate issues.

I twice had some issues with Dior tailoring. My Dior SA tried to handle this to the best of his ability. It took many months, but things were resolved to my satisfaction. But, he was on my side….

* I mean inform Hermes :)

This situation is unacceptable.
Since you are living out of the US & the policy in your country is 2 tries, you've exhausted your
options it appears.
It's irrelevant to me that other clients have purchased these pants & have had no problems,
you are having a problem with the pants & thus far it is unacceptable to you .
You will have to be patient unfortunately til Paris makes a decision.
Agree here with 880 that I would write a letter about your experience in detail
& since the pants were purchased last year don't know if you have recourse with AMEX
if that was the method of payment, but would write to AMEX in detail about this purchase, JMO
Let us know the outcome..

Thank you both and yes, I agree. I‘m more infuriated by the way this is handled than by the defect itself. I’ve obviously become a nuisance to my SA based on her reactions which is disappointing as we have been working together for years. Will certainly update and hope that other members have better customer experiences to share.

Today, I tried on a few items, none of which DH or my SA liked on me. My SA thought the cavalry twill double breasted pea coat was “uncle fester” (which I took to mean, referred to the hulking way it squared me off and broadened me out).

And, DH thought the denim separates were “farmer brown”. Which he did not mean in a cute, bucolic way. Bc the vest was straight up and down, it hit my hip without any waist definition. IMO, if it had been shorter, the boxy shape might have been cute. I only have screenshots of the vest and the stretch synthetic pants with double zip detail ref #s.

For anyone looking at the Gris carbone jeans, they run larger than the stretch cropped cotton twill pants by a huge margin. A size 36 fit like a loose trouser on me, and there was plenty of room at the waist, butt, and thighs (I have a thick waist for my size and a 36 is usually pretty exact). I would suggest trying your normal size and also one size down. These are definitely a looser trouser denim pant.

Re info on the denim. These are made on two distinct Japanese looms with no stretch in a limited quantity. I prefer the slimmer straighter cut of this seasons cashmere denim, also limited Japanese loomed, at Loro Piana *

I tried the long coat as per @Bdbunny upthread. DH felt it was too Matrix fashionable. For this kind of item, he prefers I go to bespoke sartorial rather than fashion. I also have a bigger shoulder and upper arm than @Bdbunny , and I think the long coat draped in a more flattering way on her :)

ETA: like LP, Hermes does a version of cashmere denim. But, only for MtM not RTW. Here is pic of the straight jean cut, cash denim RTW at Loro P for sake of comparison (about 1500 USD, also size 36). It’s a classic straight denim cut, not a trouser which I prefer

Lovely photos - thank you. Could I ask about the fit on the double zip trousers? I’m a size 36-38 in the silk trousers - hips 38 inches and waist 29. I’d like to order them but wondering which size. Also how was the material?

Thanks! @Hanash , I think we’re roughly the same size. I’m mainly a 36 in H pants with some tighter and some looser than I would like. (pics of the pants mentioned —all in size 36 — attached below). I purchased a 38 in the carot pants last year (theyre a bit loose, so I didn’t include them).

If I recall correctly, the double zip were a 36, but were a bit roomy in the sense that my SA said I could unzip both sides of that would make them easier to pull on. And, I had no trouble getting them on without unzipping both. Material felt smooth and a bit synthetic. The shade of blue was not a true navy or midnight navy. It had a hint of royal in it, but I think that might make them easier to coordinate (not match). The reason why I liked them was that there was some kind of hardware fastener around the ankles and they weren’t too long, but longer than the cropped pant . (I’m 5’2”). Slightly tapered towards the ankles.

The main reason why I didn’t get them was bc they were slightly too high a rise and curved over my lower abdomen in a way that made me feel pouchy. My SA said that she feels the same about her uniform pants 😂 . So, while I actually need a high rise, these pants and last seasons high waisted leather pants are too high. HTH and good luck with them :) I hope that they work for you!

I’m a size 36 in these pairs of pants ^ to give you a frame of reference :)

@pinkorchid20, what I find offensive is the comment made that the pants were sold to other
clients who had no issues. Really! Perhaps no other issues that your SA was willing to discuss/share
Since you have a long standing relationship with this SA, it's disappointing to know how she handled herself.
Hopefully she has learned that in challenging a long standing client she may have alienated her.
Would expect H to step up to the plate, recognize a design flaw & issue a goodwill credit, JMO

Ordered this long coat from the resee. The 38 was way too big and 36 fit perfectly! There’s a little room so I can wear a thin sweater underneath and still button it comfortably. I will have the length shortened a little bit so I can wear with flat boots. It’s a wool coat and feels very sturdy compared to my cashmere jackets. The buttons are hidden and done very nicely. I really love it and I feel like it’s a forever piece.

Also got this skirt. I’m trying it on with the famous buckle sweater but didn’t love the sweater on me, so I’m planning to wear it instead with the zip neck sweater and jumping boots for a full on fall look lol.

That long coat looks so fabulous on you @Bdbunny!! Do you mind sharing your height? I’m 5’2” and worry that the pocket placement will be too low. The overall length will obviously be too long but I assume that would be easily altered.

Apologies for posting a TikTok video but I’m very interested in adding this dress to my wardrobe and hoping someone has intel on it!

I have it in the purple - I’m short and a bit chunky so the 38 is quite long on me - above the knee compared to this mini which looks similar to the version shown on the model.IMG_7776.webp

I got the coat inspired by @Bdbunny ! I couldn't resist the design and I loooooved the length. I'm 5'7" so it can be harder to find longer length coats for me. I got it in a 36 and probably still could fit a thin sweater. This is my first RTW piece and I'm so excited! In fact, I was too excited and forgot to ask my SA about tailoring. If I wanted the waist slightly taken in, is that something they could do?

Looks awesome on you! Yes they can do that! But I would try it on with a sweater or something you may wear in winter before doing that just in case.

ETA: oops I just reread your post- you already tried it with a thin sweater lol.
