I'd like to share a frustrating experience I've had with a pair of pants from the 2024 Fall/Winter collection that I bought last November. I'm hoping to hear if others have had similar issues, as it seems to be a significant design flaw.
The pants feature an inner, 5cm wide viscose band that is only secured with a few threads. From the very first time I wore them, this inner band constantly rode up, causing the threads to tear and the band to come loose.
The pants were sent for repair, a process that took three months. When I got them back, the inner band had been re-sewn in the exact same manner. During the next wear, the issue reoccurred, and the seams broke again.
I returned them for a second repair. After three weeks of silence, I followed up with my sales associate and was told the pants had already been sent to be fixed again, without consulting me on the approach. When I picked them up in July, the inner band had been secured with thick, reinforced knots that were now visible through the fabric (especially in the front - very unfortunate), which was quite disappointing. On top of that, the band still rode up, and a thread broke during my first wear back at the office.
Given that two repair attempts had failed, I informed my sales associate that I would like to return the pants as no proper solution was provided. However, she told me that this was not possible and that the pants would have to be sent to Paris for a decision if the pants are defective or if it was my fault/normal wear and tear (my country‘s regulations give sellers two attempts to repair, if both fail, the buyer can request their money back). She also suggested I should go directly to the external tailor myself to sort it out which I certainly am not willing to do.
The entire situation has been incredibly disappointing. For a piece at this price point, I would expect better quality control in the design and construction, as well as a higher level of service. I own several RTW pieces and have had my fair share of pilling and bad after sales tailoring, but have never had to have anything go through repair. The handling of the process and the suggestion to bypass local consumer rights has been very surprising. I'm curious to know if anyone else has experienced similar issues with the construction of ready-to-wear pieces.
