I'm quite impressed that they could shorten the body by 2" without making it look out of proportion. Did they move the pockets? It looks great, btw.
Thank you. The first thing they checked was pocket placement. On this jacket, it’s high enough not to be affected. The tailor was quite confident of success.

Full disclosure: the decision to alter (and how much) is made primarily among the tailor, SA, and DH, all of whom know bespoke and MtM better than I do. I would never go against professional advice ;)

ETA: most people, even people my height would not need or want this alteration. It really depends on where the garment hits your body. :)

You are wise. I have a firm policy of trusting my tailor's judgement. I figure that a lifetime spent in the world of Neapolitan (and Roman) bespoke tailoring has given them far more perspective than I can ever hope to develop.

💯 For the purpose of H RTW, I find the differences between neopolitan sartorial and French fashion sartorial very interesting. Esp with the new, softer neopolitan shoulder :love:and (horror, at least to my DH lol) the jogger style drawstring pant worn with a sports coat, popularized by Brunello.

IMO, the changes in what is considered to fit etc is especially relevant to the RTW thread bc of the change in styles in men’s RTW pants (elastic half back, jogger styles, and in pant belt closures) are more evident in French premier brands like H and Dior than Italian.

I wear H men’s RTW pants that the tailor cuts down for me. (DH just prefers that we not buy the same ref). My SAs (NY and FSH) report that more women are buying men’s RTW. Women are also buying button down shirts from H men’s RTW (stores are ordering size 37). And, more women’s rtw pants (cargos of past seasons and others) have some of the nicer men’s details :)

@kipp, I believe that there are more than one reversible shearling vest? I wasn’t able to get the ref number on this but unzipped enough to see it has the leather detailing on the inside. This is a 38. My SA said it ran boxy, she said in this I would be a 34, so I assume it’s big. She didn’t recommend it for me (because I need the illusion of a waist) Sorry not to get a closer look go confirm it’s the one you want . Hugs

The Neapolitan aesthetic fits in nicely with the shift to more casual dressing that is currently on trend. I certainly find it more comfortable.

Thank you ☺️ I totally agree with you about the challenge of finding jackets that work with high waisted pants/skirts and, when they don't, the whole look of the high waisted item is hidden and I look like a blob. I have a few Prada jackets that work but was thrilled to find this perfect H piece. The price was ~$7K USD.

Thank you so much! ☺️ I will ask my SA for it 😊

Actually, I don’t think this is the one I’ve seen here in Tokyo. But thank you for looking for me!
