Hi! I’m 5’2” usually I’m 36. But I got the 40. I don’t like my jackets too tight and I tend to be a bit “full” bodied w bust and hips
Definitely try it on . I don’t have anything size 40 but this is the first piece. I think it wears well. Haven’t had any issues w lint ..
here on some photos
Excuse the mess. We are leaving for a trip family trip tomorrow and in midst of packing insanity.
HTH!
Thank you this helps! I asked to try 34 and 36 I’m not full bodied but I would definitely want to layer. Could you wear this casually as an transitional weather outerwear piece or would you say it’s only for more business casual sorts of occasions or an overcoat for during a party

I think you could definitely layer — just depends on your style and the outfit .. but I don’t think it would be an everyday outerwear piece ..

Thank you! So more an events piece? Have you worn it out yet!? Did you need to get it altered? I’ll keep you posted tomorrow. I’m pretty petite all around so I have trouble with the majority of the RTW but would like a nice statement blazer. Just tried on a bunch of Schiaparelli ones last week and drooling (but not at the prices haha)

I am usually a 36 and went up to a 38 in this jacket as I prefer a slightly oversized fit. It is a tuxedo jacket, so I wouldn’t say it reads as outerwear, but it can be worn more casually.

Hello! Can anyone (especially petites) share any mod shots or insights on thjs jacket. I’m under 5’2” and generally do sizes 34/36 and I realized I need a dark blazer so I’m hoping this could be an option. Thank you!

Hi, I'm also petite and I got this on size 34. I stick to my original size because I have a narrow shoulder and it would be too wide if I size up. The alteration specialist also suggested I should stick to size 34 as 36 looks frumpy and overwhelming on me. The blazer is cut to fit close to the body for a more formal look so I think it would be better to size up if you have a wider shoulder. I got the sleeves altered and waited for a month in Madison. Imo, it's a beautiful, classic staple piece to have in the wardrobe.

Yes I see that! I’m trying to figure out if I have enough reasons to justify this piece. Posting pics here :) I’m a little unsure if I think the collar is too bold for my petiteness

I actually sized up to 36, well partly also because there wasn’t a 34 in stock to compare to. But it seemed to fit well.

This looks beautiful on you! Will you wear it out like that or more to events?

Did you get the length altered as well or just the sleeves? I’m trying to gauge if it’s too long in the vertical on me. I would definitely need it shortened at the minimum.

I tried on a few others at Saks from McQueen, Chloe, Dior, Akris, Ralph Lauren, Veronica Beard and Theory and I think the Ralph Lauren fit me best and seemed most versatile / easy to wear. The others were definitely more fashion forward and unique to their houses’ vibes. I’ll share a quick pic of the RL for comparison with H tuxedo. Would love opinions! I know they’re different cuts and vibes but going for what looks and fits best, which I may currently lean towards the RL.

I think the H tuxedo jacket looks good on you! It doesn't look too long on your frame. It's also more interesting than the RL one. Is there a specific event or occasion you needed a dark jacket for? The RL one is ok but just kind of boring. :)

My SA had told me that this jacket runs small, so they set aside a 38 for me. I am typically a 36 in most H RTW. But the 38 was actually way too big! They did not have a 36 available, so I tried on a 34, which actually fit for the most part. It was a little snug when I buttoned it, so the tailor is letting out the back darts in 2 places (waist and hip) and probably shortening the sleeves too. I can't remember all the alterations they are doing, but it is in Paris and I will be picking it up at the end of the month.

Thank you! Appreciate this. Do you think I might fit better in a 34 - there was none for me to try unfortunately

I’ll see what hubby thinks tonight of them 😆

I’m not used to a jacket with so much spunk haha but the RL is black and this is navy maybe I need both haha

I have no event upcoming. I just had all of the events in the last few weeks (of course) where I was like I could use a dark blazer, back to my semi-boring life for a while haha

can they transfer one in for you to try? Did the tailor make any suggestions? I didn't get to try a 36 but H fit is all over the place sometimes. I am also getting the matching jumpsuit that is shown on the website and i needed to size up to a 38 because the top part is super tight, go figure!

IMO the RL and H jackets are completely different pieces. The RL is going to be more versatile, while the H is more of a statement. The peak lapel on the H jacket adds more drama, while the notched lapel on the RL reads more classic and understated. They both fit you and look good on you, so it's a matter of what you need more in your wardrobe and how you envision wearing this piece.

Yes this is exactly accurate! And that’s the part where I’m struggling now - envisioning either. H is def a little tougher to make work but it’s not like I’d be wearing either “that” often based on my current lifestyle, so would it be more fun to have a statement when I do?

thank you for sharing this. I tried it on today, and sadly it didn’t look as cute on me (I carry weight in my middle :( But it’s super warm in the torso with the insert and seems really practical :)

Also tried on the tuxedo jacket. My SA said it could be shortened a few inches without altering the line of the jacket or the pocket. Also the buttons can be changed if I want covered buttons (to make it more like menswear) 3200 usd

I’m 5’2”, size 36 Hermes tuxedo jacket
(I’m a size 36 Chanel , 4-6 US )

ETA: the tuxedo jacket is nice and cut well. The shoulder isn’t too built up. But, there are a lot of tuxedo jackets out there; I’m on the fence bc I’m not sure I would get much use out of it (I’d wear it with jeans, but I have a lot of black jackets to wear with jeans). For someone who doesn’t, it’s a great, high quality, well made option.

ETA: my SA pointed out (she is also short) that if I wear mid to high rise denim or a skirt with this jacket and tuck a shirt in, it would draw the eye up enough (not to shorten the leg line), so shortening/ massive shortening the jacket isn’t entirely necessary :)

@sparklehop,
I think I tried on the same jacket. My SA, DH, and I liked it, but all three of us felt that it should be shortened (we had some dialogue about it, and there wasn’t any issue or hesitation with the tailor) . . . While I decided not to get it, I really liked it; thought it was a great price; love the look of it on others here. If I had purchased it, I would have worn it casually with jeans.

ETA: because of my build (I have a broad shoulder and a thick waist for my size, the peak lapel is more flattering on me than the notch for this particular piece). If you want a notch lapel, there are many, many more options as you have found. I also considered a LV tuxedo jacket , but it was a notch lapel and didn’t fit me as well. The ratio of hip to waist was closer to a Dior fit, which is not good with my waist. LV tuxedo jackets are similarly sized to Dior, so if you look for one, I’d try one size up from Hermes. In my case a 38 LV.

@Bdbunny , I’m thicker across my middle than you, but I think we take the same size in some H. I’m definitely a 36 in this particular piece

Thank you! I would be curious about shortening it an inch or so as well, and perhaps taking it in a little to be more slim fit

I actually have both blazers, and I have to say—the H one feels a bit more special, especially because of the lapel. I sized up and have only worn it for evening looks so far—it’s perfect for that. The RL I got in black cashmere, and I really love the cut—it’s super easy to wear and works beautifully from day to night.
