Thank you. I decided not to alter the skirt, but the tailor said alteration would not be an issue in the future, bc the embroidery / beadwork is machine appliqué. (Which is incidentally why it’s a relatively reasonable 5300 usd. If it were actually embroidered, it would be too expensive for me to justify cost per wear. This is a wrap skirt, and a snap should be added so the skirt doesn’t blow open in a gust of wind. Here is the pin up in case anyone is interested. The reason why I decided not to shorten was bc I wanted a long skirt that I could dress up or down with a white shirt (kind of the style of Carolina Herrera). I have a lot of midi skirts but this is more dramatic long.

Re interesting RTW etiquette. I try to wear H RTW to an h event, or even, mixed with other designers, when visit8ng the store. (Mainly to show appreciation and to give my SA ideas as to how I like to combine things). I had originally thought to buy this skirt bc we were invited to an event where Hermes had bought a few tables. But, I was told there was no need to wear Hermes as it was not an Hermes event (like the recent Act II runway), nor was Hermes an official named sponsor. The two couples I met at the table were also invited bc they were H clients and neither woman was wearing any Hermes (not even bags which I did think was curious). I ended up wearing a vintage H bag with a Dior dress (I’ll post in H in action). Re sizing, I’m 5’2” and this skirts waist measures about 30 inches, roughly 37.5 inches long, from the natural (high) waist. HTH

ETA: shoes are this seasons Dior (they run large, so I bought a 37. I’m normally a 37 Manolo; 37.5 Hermes; 37.5 Chanel ballet.
White poplin shirt, size small and silk striped shirt, size XS, both charvet pret)
The JEWELRY! Stunning, stunning, stunning. Not H, I gather.

Forgot to add, my SA and DH wanted me to shorten, bc I’m a clutz; don’t often wear heels; and tend to trip over my own feet. The tailor and my romantic notion of a long silk skirt prevailed, but if I stumble and cause injury, I will never hear thr end of it lol

*and bc this is one of those classic items that I can imagine wearing for years, so potential for great cost per wear.
Note: I am not the best at measuring things, so please do your own dd re sizing. This is just to give a general idea.
Machine appliqué also means that this skirt is likely rollable and packable, but ymmv on that.
Love the skit. I'm glad you didn't alter it as I really love the dramatic, maxi length! Great buy!

The twill jacket in size 36 is too full. My SA is bringing in a 34 for me to try. about 7K USD. Note: this jacket was not produced/ordered by any store in France as per an SA there two weeks ago. If you are US based and want this, I would not count on getting it in Paris.

The coated fabric leather trimmed jacket in size 36 is too small in the front (there is oddly room in the back). It’s also too short possibly bc I have a relatively long torso. My SA said she thinks I am in between a 36 and a 38, but that this cut just doesn’t work. It’s too expensive to compromise, so it’s a no. (I’m 5’2” and a 36 Chanel, 38 Dior, if anyone is trying to figure out sizing for themselves) The last few jackets I’ve purchased at Hermes have been anywhere from 34-38).

Picked up this reversible green sweater to wear with my green pants and the silk dress is gorgeous on the hanger but did not fit me well at all. It was bunching around the zipper and my torso was too short for it so it was a pass.

BTW @880, you were right about the 36 in that jacket. It was AWFUL! The oversized dropped shoulder sleeves were like bat wings! Unfortunately there were no more 34’s but it’s all good. I think I’m good on jackets for this year (and next year too LOL!)

We’ve never paid for alterations. For the cost of these garments, I think charging for alternations (leather or otherwise) is outrageous. An alteration fee might not deter me if I loved the garment, but I would definitely complain.

BH has 2 in house Tailors and is trying to hire a third. I recently lost some weight, as many other people in this neighborhood. They have offered to take in all of my pants and belts from prior seasons, free of charge. I agree with @880, at this price point, alterations should be complimentary.

Ugh I'm sorry. I wonder if it's b/c leather is special. I wanted to get my jean jacket sleeves shortened but my SA talked me out of it, saying it would have to be shortened at the shoulder and it would change the pattern...but I've had jackets taken in at the shoulders for sleeves at Nordstrom and they do a pretty good job of aligning the pattern (at Nordy this is extra for me since it's not basic alterations, but when I buy Brunello there the alterations are free, as is Chanel).

I really think they shouldn’t make you pay. That is ridiculous. For the cost of a H leather jacket, it should be perfect, which means alterations should be included if necessary. It’s especially wrong that they notified you of the charge after you made the purchase! If they are going to charge you, it should’ve been disclosed before you made the purchase.

I bought a leather jacket that needed the sleeves shortened, and they took it in at the shoulders. Very smooth process and no charge.
Dearies,

After your very helpful information, I asked the store about the alteration charge for my leather jacket. Management’s response was that this could be a more complicated alteration, so it couldn’t be waived. This “complicated alteration” was in fact only sleeves shortening.

Since I originally didn’t object to it when I was first quoted, I decided to let this go and said no more.

Now I’m happy to report that after 3 months wait, the jacket is back and it’s free of charge!! lol

Thank you all for chiming in and sharing your experiences. So grateful to you all. :hbeat:

I think I've found the SS25 runway jacket (Vogue) on the Canadian website. At first glance it looks like the cuffs and neckline color is lighter than the runway version. Product reference: H5E1216DLD1

This is stunning. Was there a price? Only a skirt comes up for me with the code. The skirt is 8K so I can only imagine how much the jacket is...
