So I guess I have been shopping H RTW for more than the 8 years since I started this thread and I was rather surprised when my SA sat me down and we had a long chat after he asked what I thought of the direction of the RTW collections, the brand as a whole and a couple more on the 3-4 brands which I purchase most of my bags/ RTW/ shoes and jewellery from. It was like a very fun, informal questionnaire because apparently he was supposed to gather feedback. It's possible this was because they noticed my purchases for RTW have dropped a lot recently, not that I was a huge client to begin with. For what it's worth, I gave my objective opinions but I did say I am not the average Hermes RTW customer, especially as I am short and petite. Sizing has always been a difficulty for me. He said it is exactly feedback like this which leads to more RTW pieces being offered for order in 32 and for shoes in size 34. So we shall see if he gets back to me on any interesting updates.

can you tell them a lot of their clothes make people look frumpy

Actually come to think of it, I am reminded that normally it is my leather SAs/ SMs who discuss leathers and bag designs etc for feedback, because we are the end users after all. This recent interview is a little odd that it's not my RTW SA asking, but there are some SAs who do cover across departments.

So I texted my FSH SA the picture of the bolero open and said I think I want to try a wide belt with it. He agreed it would be a good look! He said he "has an idea" and will get back to me with some recommendations. :flowers:

The shipment finally cleared customs!! So I love the dress, despite all the polyester. :P It makes me feel glamorous! (Even though I’m not lol!) It has a faux wrap front that goes around the waist and ties on the side. The one sleeve is drapey and I like how it hangs. (Sorry I do not have any fashion knowledge so I don’t know correct terminology for clothing!)

I really like the Passementerie skirt but it runs small. I can hook and zip it closed but it’s tight. It’s a beautiful print and it also has a faux wrap front so it has nice movement when you walk.

I really loved the bolero on @periogirl28 so I asked my SA for one… and now I have no idea what to do with the long ends!! :whut: I know you can wear it a few different ways so I tried it open and kind of draped around my neck and shoulder like a scarf, which is kind of like how they show it online. Wrapped criss cross around the front didn’t look right on me …and then I got too hot messing around with it so I gave up.

The les tambours finesse tunic was ordered here and I’m trying it out with my new pocket Kelly belt instead of the silk sash it came with.

I’m waiting on one more dress to get shipped to the store…

Hello,

I love the silk skirt you got (the third and fourth picture) too, may I ask if you think it runs true to size or runs small? I’m usually a 34 in other brands but I’m afraid it might be too tight and it doesn’t seem elastic…I can’t be in the store to try on in person :(

Thank you in advance!

Thank you! It is a beautiful skirt. I do think it runs small. I took my size but it is tight and the waist is not elastic at all. Hope that helps!

It's my understanding that many makers, e.g., Issey Miyake, use polyester to produce pleated fabric as it's very difficult to maintain the pleats otherwise; Fortuny's methodology remains a secret. I'm not certain if Hermes does their own pleating now that Lognon has retired (H plisse scarves have recently made a comeback) but I know that there are very few remaining ateliers in Paris that produce pleated fabric. The photos in this clip give a feel for this very special technique, and there are pics of H scarves starting at pic #40. https://www.annelaurecamilleri.com/Corporate-Entreprises/Gérard-Lognon/

The pleats don't need polyester, hence why plissé silks are fine for decades (unless you do something silly like steam-iron)

Patrica and Charles Lester also pleat without resorting to polyester: https://charlespatricialester.coml My mother gave me one of her jacket and skirt ensembles. You don't hang, you twist, roll and gently bind with covered elastic (from ballet shops) and put in a draw.

My FSH SA actually just sent me that dress! I didn't see it online, he just thought I might like it. It's en route right now (held up in customs for some clerical reason). It was 4500 euros, so much easier to swallow.
ETA: He did tell me the composition of the dress... he said the polyester makes it "stretchy."

LOL the pleats make it stretchy, the polyester makes it flammable :D. The metallic mimics silk because they can't reproduce the sheen of pleated silk.

Although, I still believe it's a beautiful dress, it's a cheek to charge that much money.
