It's my understanding that many makers, e.g., Issey Miyake, use polyester to produce pleated fabric as it's very difficult to maintain the pleats otherwise; Fortuny's methodology remains a secret. I'm not certain if Hermes does their own pleating now that Lognon has retired (H plisse scarves have recently made a comeback) but I know that there are very few remaining ateliers in Paris that produce pleated fabric. The photos in this clip give a feel for this very special technique, and there are pics of H scarves starting at pic #40. https://www.annelaurecamilleri.com/Corporate-Entreprises/Gérard-Lognon/

@textilegirl, so interesting and amazing!! Some of those folds are incredible. Loved all the pics. I never really felt compelled to get an Hermes plisse scarf, but now kind of wished I had as I love many of the old favorite patterns shown in the pics!

I watched a video featuring Lognon (couldn’t find it this time) and was absolutely mesmerized. There really are quite a few ‘petite mains’ and incredible artisans involved in the production of these items, and I enjoy learning more about the various processes.

I only tried the black as it was the only colour that had launched the first day. But I loved how it looked with gold jewelry and easier to dress up - which my SA agreed. Just in the dressing room look what a big difference adding a scarf makes! Excuse the dirty sneakers

This looks super chic. I love dresses with this cut but i end up not buying because of my saddle bags :( and muffin top.

I Need to do core exercise to tighten the mid area lol

My t shirt dress finally arrived via charge send from Hawaii! (I wish I was coming from Hawaii too!) Thanks to @AT032515 ‘s suggestion, I took a size 34. Very comfy dress.View attachment 5797611

The dress looks perfect on you!! I got a charge send from the Hawaii store once too, I wish they’d include a pineapple or pog juice, ha

Issey Miyake, use polyester
My dry cleaner says that pleats like that cannot be easily and permanently maintained unless the fabric is synthetic. (My H plisse silk scarves gradually lost some of the pleat sharpness, but only after quite a bit of wear).

I posted these pics in h in action, but I thought I’d repost here because I found out a bit more @textilegirl was kind enough to provide a hint as to the scarf pattern in the skirt. After I purchased these, I took them to my dry cleaner for sleeve shortening and minor alteration. He examined both the skirt and jacket and believed that neither were worn, so close to dead stock, and not in need of specialty leather dry cleaning.

The lamb leather silk skirt is a sample sale item, stamped S. As far as I can tell, it is from look 31 from JPG’s debut collection fall 2004. The jacket is look 23, from JPG’s last collection, spring summer 2011. The jacket leather is marked vache becarro. There appears to be zero wear to the interior or exterior of the pieces. Needless to say, I feel very lucky to have stumbled upon these items  Am also tagging @maxroxxherhandbags, @papertiger, @Christofle, and @haute okole bc I think they would appreciate these too.

Mods, if it’s more relevant, please move this to vintage finds thread started by @Yoshi1296. I only posted here bc they’re H RTW, and many of us are fond of JPG. My SA was so thrilled to see these items; he thinks the silhouettes and way the silk and leather are combined are still quite relevant.

ETA: the pocket flaps on the four pockets of the jacket are all one piece (not cut and sewn). I’m excited about that lol
My iPhone pics do not capture the luster of this jacket

also pictured: H stretch synthetic moto jacket from last year; white mesh backed zip vest from this past season; gold 25B sellier; dior striped dress; and H beige shirt dress from private sample sale 2022. Valentino birkenstock collaboration acid green (I bought all colorways years ago, and finally these are perfect with the skirt lol) and MtM hiro yanagimachi sneakers from his trunk show at Leffot NY. Loro Piana cap and H floppy hat

I just wanted to add this one more pic from 2011. The backless vest (toile straps?) seems to be referenced in this current H season (both the vest and apron dress seem to be riffs on the JPG styles). The current season romper shorts with contrast trim also echo this 2011 silhouette.

Outstanding all around, research, sourcing and styling! And once again your SA proves his worth, he’s right on point about how well these JPG pieces work today.

I also want to add that I think this version of incorporating a scarf print into a garment beats the current twillaines every day and twice on Sunday; they’re lovely to be sure but not especially novel at this point. Finally, I think this particular scarf design is an inspired choice to combine with a leather paneled kilt. That thing is seriously good

Thank you! And thanks again for starting me on my research path lol. :hugs:

This particular dress has one sleeve and my SA mentioned that there is another iteration of the dress with 2 sleeves, so maybe that version will have a different price. Although he said he prefers the one sleeve to the one with two sleeves. He shipped me this dress, but it is currently stuck in US customs due to a clerical error (the French shipping company assured me they are working on correcting it) and I am dying to get it! :whut: I also think there will be additional colors released.
That makes sense now. I hope you get your dress soon. The one I ordered is in Rose Gold color, and I know there is one in Red.
