just bumping this thread up...love these boots! do any shorter girls have a pair, and if so, are they comfortable around the knee? or too high? i'm 5'2"

I'm the same height as you. These boots are uberlicious! They're so comfortable and fit beautifully. I didn't find them too high up. I've ran in them, walked in them the entire day (8 hours non stop) and my feet didn't even hurt.:heart:

I wonder how much custom Hermes riding boots cost. I have large calves and have always wanted to have boots custom made so they would actually fit and be comfortable. I did buy a pair of RTW tall dark brown Ralph Lauren flat boots this fall - fit fairly well and are more or less comfortable.

India, I think I read in a thread somewhere that Hermes can stretch the calves for you - mine are 14" and the boots are 14" around so I would need to get them stretched too. I just love the look of boots that are loose around the calf, i think it looks slimming!

i'm in the same position.

i went to hermes yesterday to ask about their riding boots, and while they don't have any mens that i like, they did have the women's one, in a size 40/10.

I have small feet for a guy. 9.0/9.5, so i can fit 10-11 in womens, so i tried the boots on, and while my feet were going to fit into the sole, my calves were too big, i know i'm a guy and all but still. :(

the SA mentioned something about Riding Boots Japonais, that Hermes makes, i think. But obviously only available in Japan. He offered to do a world wide search for them but of course i'd be commited to buy them. Sooo, no. But the Japonais one he said is about 5mm wider around the calf.

Maybe you could try that?

The best way to get tall boots that fit is to go to an equestrian store and buy them there. They come in shank (calf) width - slim, average, wide, extra wide and XX wide. They are often far less than boots in stores. Most are black - naturally, I was looking for brown!!! The only company that made them in brown were quite pricey, thus my choice of the Ralph Lauren boots.

I love Hermes riding boots. They are on my "life" list. Every pair I have before them is just filler, holding me over until I can get the real thing. In the meantime, I can live vicariously through some lucky tpfers.

I agree. I am just over 5' 2'' and both the Jumping boots and Bardigiano boots fit me very well, not too high at all.
Best to try them on, though, since height is only part of your proportions. Some people have shorter waist/longer legs or vice versa.
As for stretching them, I have had mine done at Shoe Service Plus in Manhattan (this is where Hermes sends their boots). They did a great job. My Jumping boots were stretched 1/2 inch and I can now tuck my jeans in comfortably. One caveat though: for both of these styles which have straps going around, make sure the straps will still fit around the boots. I could see that if you stretched them too wide, the straps might get too tight around them (unless the straps could be stretched too, which I didn't try).

if anyone can get to L.A., there's a shop in Pacific Palisades (elyse walker) and they have lovely Gucci riding boots on sale (50-60-70% off) although the sizes are extremely limited. Their sale started weeks ago. Apologies in advance for posting about "the wrong" label here, but just in case anyone wanted to call and ask... PM me and i can look up their phone number for you.
p.s. they have BV ones too, as well as other labels. IMHO, the gucci ones were the best looking -- of course they did not have H!!!
