I think this would work best, if you sewed each piece individually to another piece of silk/fabric. If not a stabilizing fabric (tear away or soluble preferred) as it adds extra weight to the piece when sewing and then once completed is easily removed from the end product. Also i would suggest a satin stitch connecting each piece vertically i.e. long edge to long edge (a very close zig-zag stitch that ultimately looks like one single thick row of stitching) If it was sewn horizontally in straight stitch, gaping would occur no matter how close the stitches were unless that is the desired effect.

The more effecting alternate (for drape and look IMO) would be to weave the ribbon despite the huge loss of graphics (which can only be avoided by using a clear/translucent ribbon in one direction i.e. hermes in vertical translucent organza in horizontal) an then straght stitching the edges down, then a finsiheing technique would be to roll the hem. (hermes style)
 
dammit, now i'm going to have to finally make one of those french bulletin boards....you all are terrible! lol...

i wonder if i have enough H ribbon.....it'll be a seriously expensive bulletin board if i have to go buy more H just to get enough ribbon!
 
So guys here it it a DIY Hermes Bracelet. i love it so much I'm thinking of making one that wraps around twice! FYI if you don't know yet I'm a guy hence the hairy arms lol! sorry the photos aren't too great
