Hi friends, I am in need of some advice. My Birkin has the dreaded smiley mark created from a lock hanging on the turnkey. It seems like with time, it has worn away some of the leather and color. Do you think this is something Hermes spa can fix?

Firstly I don't consider that that type of mark is as disfiguring to others as it is to owners.
As owners we can be conscious of every blemish.

The only satisfactory answer to your question is to take it to Hermes and ask.
Every piece is different and although all the artisans are highly skilled some are more experienced and confident than others. It will very much depend on whether your store has an in-house artisan and who assesses you bag.

Thanks! I will most likely take it to the 5th Avenue store. Fingers crossed they can help!

Never fear, @lhn5007 - I had the exact same problem with a Vache Liegee HAC 40 last year, & I was in despair that I would be stuck with the mark forever. But I took it to the spa at the 5th Ave H store, & it came back literally as good as new - not even the slightest trace of the former ugly smiley! Your bag is, or will be, in extremely good hands there - all will be well!

That is amazing! Thank you so much for sharing. I feel so much better! There’s hope! Haha

There really is! And I was so despondent about it, because I dutifully tried Docride’s kindly offered suggestion of trying to remove it by gently using a soft pink eraser…to no avail. The spa worked miracles! I’m traveling now & away from my HAC - otherwise I’d send you before & after pictures. But again: it really was miraculous, and my smiley was just as dark & scary looking as yours.

Just brought in 3 Hermès bags to Miami for refreshening. Quoted $352 for 32 cm Sellier Black Kelly in Epsom when I purchased it at FSH Paris 5 years ago. However, the spa quotation described my bag as Heritage Madame leather, and gave the above quote.

The other 2 Heritage leather bags were Black Box Leather. But the 32 K black that they described as Heritage Madame leather was sold to me as Epsom at FSH Paris.

Does anyone have intel on pricing for refresh/cleaning of embossed Epsom leather versus Heritage leather for same touch-up work?

How big of an issue would you think this handle edge splitting is in a K32? I am not sure if it’ll progress over time and require an expensive handle replacement.

Also has anyone had good experiences getting scratches like the below pic buffed out on Ardennes? TIA!

Unlikely to progress to handle replacement. I've had much worse handle splitting and had it stitched good as new.

That scratch should buff out pretty well - might not disappear but you won't notice.

Hi. Does anyone know whether it's possible to receive an estimate for the repair cost of a damaged bag at a US store before leaving it with the store / sending it to Paris? I accidentally peeled the surface of the leather a few weeks after purchasing the bag. The leather is evercolor. I prefer to keep using it until it's more worn if it's expensive.

My only experience with spas at US stores is at the NY H store on Madison Avenue, & there at least, they will give you an estimate before beginning any work on the bag, so you know ahead of time what you will have to pay. They do, in my experiences there, tend to keep the bag for further inspection before sending you the estimate, so you have to leave the bag at the store. But you don’t have to pay anything until they’ve sent the estimate and you’ve formally approved it. Hope that helps!

Thank you! If I won't approve it, will they return the bag soon? Do yot know how long does it take to receive it again without any work?
