Not say regret. Just that...

BK 35 Togo bleu electrique, beautiful bag, but so heavy that I hardly use it.

Kelly pochette... impulse buy! "Because it's hard to get and it's offer to me so I must buy it !!" Its such an elegant pouch. And then Covid happen I don't really have any special occasions or events to use it...

they are beautiful and Id never sell them, just that I will never buy another BK 35 or KP

not sure about the BK35 but the KP has lots of uses. I have two and even during lockdown I managed to use them. They carry iPhone, glasses, keys, cardcase and sanitizer. I throw them in a shopping tote and good to go.

I know this post is a couple of weeks old but it struck a chord with me because 7 years ago, I had the exact thoughts as you. Is it crazy to spend so much on a bag? Would I be crossing the line of what a sane person would spend on a bag? Would my friends and family have me committed for making such a purchase decision?

Well, I'll tell you what happened to me. In a nutshell, I didn't end up with just one kelly (which at the time I convinced myself is all I needed), but many H bags. Not all of them are B and K, I also do like some other designs and have dabbled in picotins, roulis, constances, kelly cuts, etc. I don't ever regret making this decision because like a true Hermes addict, I was able to rationalize spending the money on a B or K. In my mind, if I bought 2-3 gucci or dior bags and did so every year, it would just be 3 years before I had saved enough for "the" H bag. So in 2014, I took the plunge and bought a gold kelly. And what I have discovered is I am still as in love with the H bags I bought over 5 years ago as the day I purchased them. I have never felt that way about the bags from other brands. Not Louis, not gucci, not dior. I always lost interest in those bags about a year after I purchased them and always ended up reselling them. So no regrets! Buy the H bag, use it, take nice care of it, and you will still be in love with it in 10 years time.

Thank you for your experience! Today I took the plunge and ordered a SO: gold/ebene, clemence. Similar to the one in the picture below. I tried to go for something classic.

Now the wait begins :)

interesting, have always thought of using KP only as an evening clutch. But mostly going out with 2 toddlers, I really need something straight out of the bag, and can't really afford to have a bag in another bag lol

I turned down a Kelly 6 years ago because it was too nice and felt I didn’t need such a nice fancy bag with little kids. The manager was a bit surprised that I didn’t even want to try it on. If I only I knew then what I know now… I’ve never been offered a Kelly (or a Birkin) since (insert tears of regret)…

I just realized thread is purchase regrets, and yes, I’ve had that too. I regret purchasing non h bags, and I once purchased a very bright h bag that wasn’t my style and I really regret that. I sold it and I kind of regret selling it also. That bag is riddled with regret on all ends.

Lol I have done exactly what you describe. Twice with H bags and more times that i can even bear to think about with non-H. (At least I don’t regret selling the H ones - they taught me to be more realistic about colors that work with my wardrobe.)

Congrats! Your initial post resonated with me so much! I've wanted a B for about 20 years, but I had small children and although I could technically afford one, it seemed frivolous and irresponsible to buy one. But, almost two decades and a pandemic later, I thought 'if not now, then when'. I found a beautiful preloved B35 in Turquoise Clemence and have not a single regret :)

Regrets. Unlike all of you, I experimented a lot (2008- present) and had some regrets. But, it was a process and I learned a lot

28BBK, sellier GHW, replaced with 28K sellier, PHW, various leathers and a 28 retourne BBK, PHW
32K, sellier, phw, but 28 is really my ideal size even when 32 was more popular
any kelly without double HW for cross body straps. I have experienced handle wear. Ugh.
any bag in rouge H Or with GHW, I’m not really a rouge H or GHW person.
35 Birkin, PHW, when 30B is really my size
jige PM (various colors) but I have been considering an elan for years, but I probably won’t get bc I prefer a medor CDC clutch
tsako (various leathers), rugby, golf shoulder bags they are not me; I prefer the trim II
trim 31 (various leathers) not me; replaced with a trim 35
garden party (really not me) replaced with a double sens (too heavy); then thought about a BV Cabat, then just decided to stick with Goyard St. Louis bags (light weight)
32 barenia HAC, GHW, (I felt like a Ralph Lauren ad) replaced with HAC gunmetal metallic art bag by @docride
35 leather toile GHW (I wish I had bought a crinoline PHW instead)
victoria 35 (ebene and etoupe) love but should have bought both preloved excellent condition instead of boutique
kelly longue wallet BBK, PHW, really stiff and heavy empty
JPG shoulder Birkin I, not nearly as easy to use and flattering on my frame as the JPG fringe kelly
evelyn GM when the PM or TPM is more my size
vespa PM, I really wish this one had an adjustable detachable canvas strap
chaine d’ancre shiny croc bag; I prefer matte alligator
33 Evelyne sellier for DH; I wish I had gotten him 29 Evelyne sellier
42 ebene pebbled leather briefcase for DH, he loves it but almost never uses it due to weight

i sold an indigo barenia picotin pm; bought an MM Parchimin Togo picotin; bought a GM; then a gold TGM, before I gave up on the picotin. . .now, when I’m tempted by a pico 18, i just walk away lol

I consigned a black troika bolide 31 PHW and a 42 Paris Bombay marron fonce, both purchased from H sample sale private day. I still miss those bags

I also occasionally regret rehoming my first 30B vache natural black bag to my mom, but I eventually replaced it with Blakc barenia 30B, brushed PHW, refurbished by @docride

*have thought about but never got the Constance;
just purchased a Della cavalleria mini today (awaiting delivery) which I think is great. (My SA persuaded me to purchase my first epsom bag)

I had the opportunity to purchase a fabulous ostrich 30 B in one of my favorite colors a deep blue gray, but DH had sent me a pic of a blue silkie chicken, and that put me off. I still regret not buying that bag.

during covid I saw a pristine crinoline leather 30B, PHW, and didnt buy it. I missed out. C’est la vie

for my moms 75th birthday, DH and I bought her a 30B Togo craie, ghw. She loves it; it’s her dream bag, but I wish a tiny bit that she loved PHW as much as I do, bc then I’d borrow it more lol. But, that’s not really a regret bc she’s really happy

scarf regrets: I regret consigning CSGMs, 90 scarves, plisses and GM mousselines

I regret buying all vintage 70 scarves and scarf rings, except the mors

I regret buying most leather jewelry and buffalo horn (What was I thinking)

Apologies, I just realized that the thread pertained to hermes behavior regrets. I saw bag pics and assumed it was more like how I shaped my current collection through trial and error. i had fun trying things out over the course of many years, (and many times I had to wear them for a while to figure out optimal size, style, leather and HW) so it was really an enjoyable experience lol.

I guess my behavioral regrets are the things I bought sight unseen through H.com.

During covid I bought a silk 140 sieste au paradis is a saturated brilliant color (SaP is a pattern I collect in CSGM) but in silk it’s too brilliant, so I gave to my aunt.

I also bought a blue de prusse (a favorite color) Calvi but decided my few cards might slide out (I prefer the smaller but thicker Diormatte black accordion slot holder). So, I might give it to my step brother. I should try out my cards inside first though. :D

I have one regret. I regret that some years ago, I did not bring my passport with me when I went to the George V store in Paris.
It's because I wasn't really planning on buying anything. I was just there to look. I wanted to see what a Plume Voyage looked like in person.
An SA chatted me up and asked me what I'm looking for. I said I just want to see what a Plume Voyage looks like. She said they have it in green and red Swift versions, and that she could bring them out if I like. I said of course I would like that, and then she asked for my passport. I said I don't have it with me. Then she said, "I can't really show it to you unless you show me your passport."
I thanked her and left the store. The end.
Bummer.
