You're my hero. Please, you know one day you’re going to look in your closet and go, “f-it, I’m wearing ALL of them today.” I know I’m going to have that day, and it’s going to be AMAZING.

No, I have no regrets. I've never sold an H bag in my possession, and I never will. I started my Hermès collection back when the brand was still virtually unknown among the masses. You could walk into any Hermès, anywhere in the world, pay, and walk out with a Kelly or a Birkin. Special orders took a few months, not years. I have taken good care of my bags, and I'm am happy that I did, because I could never go to the lengths that people have to go to today. What Hermès puts aspiring customers through now is almost sadistic! Just like DeBeers does for diamonds, Hermès creates an artificial shortage of Birkins by strictly controlling the message and the market. No thanks. I won't buy any bag more difficult to get than whatever Hermès has available online. My only regret is that overexposure has made Birkins and Kellys less desirable to me. I shouldn't complain, though. The stock that I bought in Hermès a few years ago is now worth four times what I paid for it.
Thanks for sharing, my personal thoughts too.No, I have no regrets. I've never sold an H bag in my possession, and I never will. I have been on and off thinking about ordering a Birkin. It would totally be possible and I’d just have to pull the trigger.
My SO has two Birkins and I like them a lot, they are well made and would fit my needs. So from an aesthetic/functionality angle it would make sense. I thought about different colors and I like fantasizing about it.
However there‘s also the price. I have dropped a lot of money on bags before (Chanel...) but something about dropping so much money on a bag is just flat out ridiculous to me. I am always very self aware buying these bags having thoughts like ‘Have I gone mad?‘ and with the Birkin I’d feel like I really would have. The others were expensive to a comically ridiculous extent but the price for a Birkin kind of crosses the line for me.
Money isn’t an issue in this case. It’s more about... should you drop this money on a bag you like although the pricing is sheer lunacy?
Can you relate to this? Have you had the same thoughts, pulled the trigger and then regretted it?
OMG OMG OMG you all are amazing!![]()
And @ladysarah just casually standing next to those TWO Waffle Kelly's there!!!! (amongst other things!)
I think @netinvader and I should do a pic this weekend (I only have two H bags so far...need his help to make it more fun LOL)!
I know this post is a couple of weeks old but it struck a chord with me because 7 years ago, I had the exact thoughts as you. Is it crazy to spend so much on a bag? Would I be crossing the line of what a sane person would spend on a bag? Would my friends and family have me committed for making such a purchase decision?
Well, I'll tell you what happened to me. In a nutshell, I didn't end up with just one kelly (which at the time I convinced myself is all I needed), but many H bags. Not all of them are B and K, I also do like some other designs and have dabbled in picotins, roulis, constances, kelly cuts, etc. I don't ever regret making this decision because like a true Hermes addict, I was able to rationalize spending the money on a B or K. In my mind, if I bought 2-3 gucci or dior bags and did so every year, it would just be 3 years before I had saved enough for "the" H bag. So in 2014, I took the plunge and bought a gold kelly. And what I have discovered is I am still as in love with the H bags I bought over 5 years ago as the day I purchased them. I have never felt that way about the bags from other brands. Not Louis, not gucci, not dior. I always lost interest in those bags about a year after I purchased them and always ended up reselling them. So no regrets! Buy the H bag, use it, take nice care of it, and you will still be in love with it in 10 years time.
