I once bought a few year old Chanel bag at the PA Neiman Marcus that was in the sample case...so I know people had been touching it and trying it on (and it came with no felt although they usually do). However I also knew it was a tweed bag from two Cruise Collections prior that I had been dreaming since I had seen a photo of it the year prior. In that case my CC was on the table within 10 seconds of the bag coming out into eye sight.

Just saying this because Roulis may be not so much that it was "used" or "returned" but it could definitely have been on display and tried on similar to @duggi84 's toolbox hence not being "pristine". It might be a learning forward to tell H you'll only buy bags fresh off out of the shrink wrap if you are worried people having opened it/tried it on in the past - this might limit your options but at least you'll have peace of mind.

Finally H bags are durable and they stand by their leather products - If there are any significant problems you've noticed with the Roulis, you could have them spa it too. And ultimately if you like the bag, just use it; it'll get some minor dings with use almost immediately anyway.

Will feel totally differently if that SA was honest and transparent when selling it to me that is an old display/sample bag, or your dream bag such as BKC, . Anyway went to the store today and the store manager made effort to issue store credit. In therms of that SA? Only got told today that she already left PA store and started at Dallas herms. - my last message with her was mid April , she just disappeared without telling old clients she gonna leave.

are you saying that you have received a bag with signs of usage, another words “used one”? was it on display shelves? I would be more concerned about the fact if she sold you a “used“ bag without telling you. The store should have returned the defective bag to Paris, it’s just odd that she tried to resell it. I am sorry for how you feel about your experience with the SA but perhaps you could have returned it immediately?

Edit: just read your reply to another poster, glad the store made it right to you. i agree, it’s your money, everyone should be entitled to how they feel and expectations (quality of the goods, services etc..).

First of all, if you'd like to help them to get rid of 4 years old hard- to -sell inventory that's your choice. As I said before, first of all, She took advantage of my naivety on my VERY First visit ( that's my very First hermes bag, before I have only purchased fashion jewelries scarf etc in other countries), and that very old bag has many signs of pre-ownership, not pristine. I felt so humiliated and fooled after I found out myself later- not a feeling you would like to spend $9000 to buy. You bought your 2018 bag voluntarily without misleading pitching, secondly, i said even this is just a standalone incident, I would give a chance to keep working on our relationship and tolerate that, but later on the way she treated me made me feel so unworthy-- not everyone can be as lucky as some member here, be offered 4 quota bags a year. I think I cannot post the message screenshots of this SA here, so if anyone wants to know more details, feel free to DM me.

I’ve shopped at the SF store before and I definitely didn’t like the cold attitude or atmosphere. I feel that we shouldn’t be negative about Sales Associates by naming them here on the forum. I mean, let’s all be thankful and positive for the things we are blessed with. We have a lot to be thankful about. We have experienced enough with the pandemic already, at least we are all blessed to be alive. After all, it’s only a bag and problems can be solved.

Everyone knows it’s a challenging game. But not everyone is lucky as you can get 4 quota bags in a year. The other people not even got “a” quota bag.
My sales in Palo Alto even doesn’t want me to open 2 accounts.

That's what they do. Probably a way to attract new customers I guess. At any month there are likely 50 more customers wanting the same lindy 26 etoupe GHW, so it's not just about ignoring you. Take it as part of the game. Random things happen and there is no guarantee.
Am I trying to defend the store? I had things on the wishlist that had been promised to me and never materialized. A hard lesson is that once you have your mind set a particular combo, it is going to be a challenging game. There are other players and stock is never enough. Same thing as bidding up houses.

I mean to be honest, I understand why they do that. It’s strictly business and they want to keep those high profile people and push away spenders who are not strong enough.

so instead of getting new customers, they are trying to keep customers who can drop a huge amount of money everytime they shop.

there’s nothing wrong with that, but I just think Hermes as a brand in general (especially Paris Headquarter) does not mean to do this to people who actually truly appreciates the brand.

I remember I watched this video in Hermes youtube about a Japanese customer who can only afford agenda refill every year. From this video, I kind of believe Hermes is more than just about $$$$$$.

I wish I could have gotten 4 offers every year! Only 3 for my first two years (2 on mine and 1 on my husband's account) and 1 so far this year. I have a long list of things I love but try to pace myself. Also the first couple offers I took were all sort of less popular at the time. I still remember my SA blurted out that when the (craie) kelly arrived at the store no other SAs wanted it at all (white was not well-received in 2019). Same thing with my butler c and perhaps barenia faubourg b (people prefer togo/epsom to heritage leather). Even now I try to avoid competition as much as possible.

In 2021 it doesn't make sense to open 2 accounts at one store. If I were to start my journey this year, I would have one at a local store and one in hawaii or vegas. But situations are often changing so maybe the second half of year stock level will be different.

By the way they may have cracked down on the 2 or more account thing because some people were doing it (using a “friend” to open another account in the same store etc.) and other customers wrote complaints to management and SAs even got fired over it (not Palo Alto, the one I know of is in some other store but may have impacted everywhere else). So right now if you ask for multiple accounts and get told no it’s probably also because of these recent incidents & management made it clear it’s not advised (on top of more competition in 2020).
