I was there yesterday afternoon. I was looking around and was never approached to ask if I needed assistance. Made me feel self-conscious. Are there any tips for getting someone to approach you?
My experience from the past few months - this store can get extremely busy at times. You may want to try a different time, like early in the morning or an hour before they close. I was approached by a friendly SA on my first visit, and then I just emailed her to check her availability every time I go.

Agree with this advice, weekend afternoons can be nuts there. Try to go during the week if you can. I find the SAs at this store to be some of the most friendly and approachable I've ever met in an Hermes boutique worldwide!

I’m usually a *shy* lurker here, but recently really got into Hermes - the leathers and craftsmanship. I think their scarfs are divine, along with obviously their bags! The thing is, I’m not that into a lot of their items. I can only name a handful of pieces that suit my style.

I’d love to get a perfume, a scarf or two, and a B. I don’t think I’d be able to gain a real “purchase history” without feeling like I’m spending just to get a B.

PA is my local store, so I’m curious if there are any tips for newbies like myself at that location? Or any friendly SAs?

Also, if I get a B in the reseller market, would I get any guff going into the store to buy twillies for a bag I didn’t purchase directly from Hermés?

Thanks for any advice!!

If you are not in a rush to score a B, then give yourself time and eventually you will start liking their other items. To me a purchase history is based both on $ and consistency. All the SA in the PA store are really friendly, the main thing is to find one who clicks with your personality. I have no experience in the resellers market, I hope you can get answers from other tpfers. HTH

Palo Alto is my home store too and I bought both my Birkins in Paris! The first one was before the Palo Alto store opened up. I went in once to purchase twillies for my Paris B with my B with me and the lady assumed she’d be able to find me in the database since she saw my B and figured it must be a US purchase. She was all “I should be able to find you...” of course she couldn’t as the twillies would be my first US Hermes purchase. I definitely felt uncomfortable and felt the need to offer an explanation and convey my Paris story. I told her I was interested in a second B in a smaller size and she said that it helps to “be loyal to one store.” I definitely felt like purchasing in Paris was going to make it harder for me to get offered one here. She also said they “definitely don’t want their bags getting into the hands of resellers” ( Ridiculous I know bc how else do hundreds of bags show up on reseller sites, clearly they are selling to them!) So I can imagine if I felt slighted with my Paris FSH purchase, it would probably be a worse experience with a reseller purchase.

My advice is go to Paris! I have a very demanding job and absolutely no time to play the Hermes game. Even with the travel it’s cheaper if you get offered one, which I have been lucky to twice!

I will still go into Palo Alto for twillies, this time I’ll tell them confidently they are from FSH in Paris! I don’t feel like I have anything to be ashamed of!

Sadly, I am not the most patient haha but I might just check out what they have in store and see if I manage to find an SA I click with! I guess you never know!

Thank you for sharing your experience!!

I’m the same way, super busy work schedule and zero patience for the “game” lol. I thought about Paris as my best bet, but I’ve read stories where people get rejected and don’t get any bag. I’m a bit afraid of that ruining my whole trip.

I’m definitely worried about comments regarding a reseller bag, and I really want the whole experience if I’m putting down all that money! Sigh...guess Paris is the best way to go after all...
