Hi all,
I received the same email ad re: Hermès bags on Bluefly....
came here because I knew the H pros here would be the best to advise on whether these were authentic H bags.......whomever buys one, please keep us up to date on what your H experience was with Bluefly....

Can't help but think the vendor may be questionable, since these "grail bags" are so hard to come by !!!!

I wouldn't want to take my chances with Bluefly. Isn't it like the more expensive equiv. of salon shampoos sold in pharmacies? The companies cannot authenticate the product if you don't purchase from the official retailers. I assume Hermes is the same way.

I didn't see any "grail" bags. There were no Kellys or 30 or 35 cm Birkins there.

My last experience of an H scarf purchase from bluefly. It was authentic, but it was obviously used. There were clearly diagonal fold marks that don't happen just because of casual trying on. I sent it back.

The rouge bag looks like a travel Kelly to me. It appears to be a leather and crinoline combination. I saw one irl at the store a year ago. It was lined in leather and not in toile. It does have the hooks on the handle to attache a shoulder strap. I think th shoulder strap maybe done in canvas. But the photo looks real to me.

I really hope it goes well for all you gals,

In answer to some of the questions on here

a) Its been more recent they sold fakes not 2 years ago
b) returning to them is not that easy if you are claiming its a fake - took some people months to get their money back
c) baits and switches was their answer to get out of the fakes nothing to do with customers changing them - they came with their security tags on but they still claimed people changed the tags and sent them fakes - again in some cases inolving 6 months fighting and battles to get money back

I would never give them $50 let alone $5000

I have never heard of such a thing as Bluefly giving anyone a problem returning an item. I have bought a lot from them over the years, though never a Birkin, and have never once had even the slightest issue with a return for any reason.

That being said, for everyone who keeps saying "are they an authorized retailer?"--no. It's very clear that they are not. However, that does not mean the bags and other items are not authentic. Bluefly buys "end of season" stock from department stores, and guess what? Lots of department stores like Neimans etc. have decent-sized Hermes departments spread out throughout the US (and of course there are similar places such as Harrods in London and others worldwide). It's totally conceivable that travel Birkins, a Constance or three, and numerous less high profile bags could wind up at Bluefly. Retailers need to "clear the books" at least twice per year, and August-September is generally when that happens. They would much rather sell something to Bluefly at a steep discount than risk dead inventory on items that haven't moved in their market.

I have no stake in the success or failure of Bluefly, but I just felt compelled to explain that this is a likely source of their merchandise. They are a legitimate online retailer, and they do a huge business. Heck, I think their sales probably eclipse those of Hermes on an annual basis.

Sorry, my MBA just pops out sometimes ;)

I have bought from Bluefly and everything was authentic. I bought a 40cm Kelly in black last year and another 50 cm Birkin in black at another time. A friend alerted me and I literally was waiting for it to be removed from someone's shopping cart. I travel/fly with a tiny dog and use one as a "purse" and stuff it with her all needs. The dog carrier is considered my carry-on. My husband will carry the Kelly as a carry-on under duress because it has a shoulder strap. They are heavy empty but hold alot.

Look what just popped up on e-bay, a Paris Bombay travel bag in 'sturdy grain leather'.:push: BIN 4050. The pic looks familiar too. Anyone remember what the bluefly price was for the bag with the purdy sturdy grain leather Y'all?

Cynthia, thanks for letting your MBA come up for air. Your information is greatly appreciated by those of us who bought during this recent frenzy. I was beginning to doubt my sanity and letting my emotional reaction to some of the posts get the better of me. I have never had a problem with BF and hope my luck will hold.

Thanks to Melliesmom as well for your authenticity report:)

I think you will be just fine.

I'm kind of perplexed how they give off the image of a disreputable company to so many people, but hey--that means more for those of us willing to suspend our disbelief! LOL!
