I would be shocked if any customer at any US store was allowed to buy a birkin without the approval of the store manager/director. That is part of his or her job. And I see no problem in wanting to sell HTF items to good customers. It would be a fairy tale to believe that SAs in any store -- NM, Barney's, Saks, etc. -- don't try to give their good customers an opportunity to buy new or HTF stuff when it comes in. (I guess you can tell I am a WS customer; I have been since it opened.)
i got my first birkin (candy 25) as a walk in with no manager approval and not spending any money before, it was sitting on the shelf (technically display window). this was in the US. very lucky but it can happen.

Yes, I know on a rare occasion a bag can be on the shelf. I personally saw one on the shelf when WS first opened. But I am sure it was the SM who decided it would be placed there. Of course they will sell it to whomever asks for it first. I am speaking about typical practice. There are always exceptions to any rule.

Thank you all for your very kind replies. Back on the West Coast now and visited my local store to see my regular SA. Next time I am in NYC I will for sure check out the Wall Street boutique! Sorry to have vented on this thread - I sometimes need a little reminder not to take these things personally. Not worth being upset over things like this. All the best to you all for a great year....and lots of H goodies!! :graucho:

Sorry about your experience. In the beginning I found madison very intimidating. I started off at wall st, touching everything every inch of the store. The sas at wall st was awesome. When my sa quit I went to Madison because they have more inventory and bag repairs which made everything much easier. My long term sa now at Madison approached me then when I was dressed head to toe in forever 21. Now when my sa is not there I just turn around and leave. Next time you come pm me and I'll let you know if my sa is there at Madison!

Wow that's awesome service!!! Not surprised they were treated well there bc the SAs are very friendly and helpful. I will say that as bad as the service can be at Madison.... it's NOT bad in the scarf section at all. And if you really are looking for something in particular you can ask and they will help can you...eventually. It's the leather section that will leave you wondering if you have turned into the Invisible Woman. Also, Madison is a show.... u NEED to go see the SHOW :D It's massive in comparison to other US boutiques and 4 floors of jaw-dropping goodies... I seriously go to make a list, ohhh-n-awwww, see things IRL that I saw here, take some pics and send it all to my SA to find for me :laugh:

That's a great idea! Been there in Madison too, took us a long time to find an SA to talk to us even though there were only a handful of customers. But man, the inventory! Saw a croc B with diamonds on display, not that I could afford to ask my SA to get me that! 😜 But WS SAs are the sweetest, like all of them.

Completely a newbie to the Hermes forum om PF but am wondering if anyone know if any of the NYC stores still happen to get those B25 once in a while? Anyone or knows anyone that had news about scoring one in that size?

MANY MANY THANKS IN ADVANCE!;);););););):heart::heart:

Hi I will be in NYC next week for business. How likely is it that I will be able to get a birkin size 30 without previous purchases from the NYC store? I heard ppl say if I spend a minimum amount I'll get offered one? Should I go to a SA and just ask straight out that I want a birkin and I will spend a certain amount to buy it? Also which store is the best? Thanks so much!!

I honestly think it's extremely hard to simply go in and be able to get a 30 unless you instantly purchase a CRAZY amount of other items and with being able to find a nice SA. The Madison store does get B's in but lately seem to be pretty backed up, and they seem to only want to offer them to familiar faces/long time clients. The 30 is a extremely popular size and if you do spend that CRAZY amount of money...it would probably take at least a month or two to actually get that phone call when the bag gets into the store.

I would recommend paying a visit to all the Hermes locations in NYC (ie. Wall Street, and in Americana Manhasset in Long Island, and just ask around. You never know and may get lucky! However, the chances are pretty slim.

GOOD LUCK AND ENJOY YOUR TIME IN NYC!!! :D

Manhasset is my home store, and it is a fabulous boutique with amazing SAs, but almost all of what they get in this regard is spoken for, and if anything else comes in they will make direct phone calls to their good customers and those who have requested something in particular. They have a fabulous selection of jewelry, silk, SLGs and home goods, and just about every other kind of bag in amazing colors, and for those reasons it would be a productive visit, but I would not recommend going just for a B/K/C.

I agree with BBC that Manhasset SAs are all really nice but I think the chances of being offered a B or K the first visit is slim to none. A lot of affluent people live in the neighborhood and so they have a list of regulars. I would say try the Madison and Wall Street stores.

Hi guys, quick question. I need to build an h relationship, Madison or Manasset? In terms of which one would most likely make me wait less for my dream b? Thanks!

I would say Madison. It's a much bigger store with much more inventory and they're more "********ic" - if you get to know an SA and you build a relationship you'll be able to get what you are looking for.
