What do you do if the SA keeps bringing it up? I mentioned it only once and to specifically inquire if they were getting any large bags on occasion. Since then each time I go I am asked again about my wishlist by SA (but no bags have appeared). Is it possible that the SA is just new? Trying to be nice ? I have only bought things I like and we have fun hanging out- I wish I needed more H things because it’s always a good time

Doesn't sound like you need "to do" anything other than continue to answer the SAs question when they ask it. They have so many customers that its not always easy to remember exactly who wants what so the more times they ask, the more likely it is to stick.

I agree with @acrowcounted. Mention what you like when the SA asks. They have so many requests, they may be trying to figure out whether there is a match coming in a shipment or they may simply enjoy the conversation? In my experience, being specific with what you like (color, hardware, size) helps your cause, especially if they know what’s coming in.

Ok. While I would like a bag or 2 I am not looking just for that and have a very particular idea of what I would like. Don’t want SA to think I only want a bag and will disappear. I’d really love a full set of the passafolia China but no way the hubs is going to go for that!

That is the best thing you can tell the SA.

“I only want one or two bags eventually. Please don’t think you have to spend an inordinate amount of time trying to find one for me. My ideal bag would be X in size Y in color Z. If that happens to come in, please keep me in mind, but overall, I just love so many of the other things you carry. I’d love a passafolia set, but that’s out of the budget. Can you help me with a tray of some sort that can start to persuade my husband?”

Shows you like H stuff. Shows you’re not just a reseller trying to flip a bag. Shows you are willing to wait for the right thing. All wins.

I totally understand your point. It’s just my opinion on how I would state it. I’ve always discussed budget with my SAs, but I’m the husband looking for gifts for the wife.

Overall, you and I are stating the same thing. Discussing what you want, and do not want, makes the relationship with Hermes much easier. I find many folks are too intimidated by the store to just chat.

my SAs don’t seem to have an issue if I state that I don’t know whether I would be comfortable spending for a matte alligator QB. Or, if I state I would spend X amount on Y item, but not X amount on Z item.

Same! When my SA brought up exotics, I told them I wasn't ready for alligator yet (but open to lizard).

Absolutely discuss budget, I do it all the time. Maybe it is just me, but buying something and hoping hubby warms up to something he has already expressed distaste for is asking for trouble.

As a general rule, Madison Ave. will have the most stock so might be the best place for you to start shopping. If they don’t have them in your size, they can likely charge-ship or let you know if an order is coming in.

It’s a store trying to sell stuff. You’re wanting to give them your money for said stuff. It’s really that basic. No need to be intimidated. Good luck!

Really nothing to be intimidated about.
While many share their SA's experiences some to be more unpleasant than others,
enjoy the shopping at H. It's worth it at the end of the day & just be yourself, SA's like that
connection just as much as the clients do, JMO

Thanks both of you! Is Hermes like Chanel where if they don’t have the shoe, they’d be able to source? Or the shoe has to be on display? TIA
