No SA wants their clients to buy simply for the same of an offer. Simply buy what you love. however, if as you write, you don’t see yourself spending greater than 1:1, your SA has already told you a mini k is unlikely. I would be very surprised if she gives you a concrete answer, but pls do update the thread with any new info.

@Bereal , I’m so sorry your SA left, but glad that you were able to SO beforehand.
Thanks @880 .. my SO was not in NY :-) I never expected anything from my SA in NY is what I was trying to say being an occasional shopper. Going to Madison is just fun for me. Of course I ask for what I want and I usually get the not available right now in terms of BKC.

IMO when an SA says 2-3 years, this means never.
Many other great points too but this part…true in my personal experience as well. I have seen SAs give out this number to stop the conversation instead of actually meaning it’s 2-3 years. It feels like that at least in the US they don’t want to directly say “no” and the sort of go-to “soft rejection” is “maybe 2-3 years”. To me it’s to be taken in the same way as statements such as “sorry ma’am we have zero bags”.

Thank you so much! The business card I received only says "Sales Specialist," so I will ask her which department she is in. Also, since my SA is candid, I will frankly ask her how often she will receive the QB inventory and the process of offering them as well as the estimated waiting period.

Also, thank you for sharing your impression. As she often says I don't need to buy anything that I don't really want just for getting QB offer, I haven't spent much so far (maybe around 0.8:1), but I thought it is not a good strategy to completely rely on her remarks if your impression is right.
Unless you already have a long and fruitful relationship with your SA, it’s unfortunately rare that you can trust everything your SA is saying. That is basically how the entire Hermes quota bag system has trained them to do…give out non answers, deflect with reasonable excuses, and yes sometimes lying with a straight face. You can try to ask them to be frank, but you asking does not mean they will. And it’s nothing personal, mostly it’s years of seeing different clients and behaviors and getting written complaint after complaint (yep it’s a very common thing)…so experienced SAs know to choose their words and are often cynical to open up unless you have firmly established a relationship with them to a level where they know they can trust you to be frank; and I dare say something like a 0.8:1 history is unlikely to be at the top of their list.

The thing is “I don't need to buy anything that I don't really want just for getting QB offer” is technically not a lie, it is absolutely good advice to buy what you love…but “you don’t need to” =/= “you will get QB by not doing it”. This is a great forum because experienced members who are willing to help can tell you a lot of what is going on that you really won’t get by asking your SA.

So either way it goes op will have to spend 20k + on items at the store or buy the MK resell?

I’m really not sure how long it’s going to take me to get a craie b 30/35. However, I *believe* she would’ve told me if it weren’t possible. She’s straight up said no you will not be able to get a b with rghw and no to barenia b since they rarely get them. Also that the SS has only order black and gray 35s this year. I guess at this point I should just be happy that i havent heard 2-3 years

ETA: oops just realized I responded in the by thread which is not my home store lol. Please ignore me.

It’s ok a lot of the North America stores operate in similar ways and advice can be applied generally :)

For MK there’s a high chance 20k won’t even cut it especially if it’s the more popular specs (colors). Some stores will not even offer one as a first time offer to a new client. They want to give the most sought after bags to clients who enjoy purchasing other categories and have proven that they are shopping Hermes long term.

B30 is going to be easier. Again resale prices can give a feeling of how popular (and hence competitively difficult) a bag is. You will see a lot less ridiculous markups on the 30s. 35 is in a different boat, it’s not that competitive (most people are chasing smaller bags) but as a result Hermes has lessened production (redirecting artisans to mini bags) and managers have elected to order less for their store. Sounds like yours may have only ordered the basic colors which he/she thinks are the only ones that would have demand amongst the store clients. I’d say for a 35 you have to be patient for that reason, but do not need to worry as much about “outbidding” others. Letting your SA know that you want one (and hence maybe nudge your SM to be more open to order some next podium) does not hurt.

Thank you so much. I’m not interested in a MK, thankfully! My sa definitely said it would much easier if I went with a 35 over a 30. I just don’t want black or gray. However, I can’t say that id decline a black one if offered.

I’ve definitely spent the resell markup for a b at my store lol. I guess it’s just a matter of being patient. Both my sa and sm know that I’m interested in a 35. I’m hoping maybe next year we (my sa and I) can try to catch the sm before he makes the next order? Or at least mention to my sa again at the end of the year and she can notify the sm.

I currently haven't shopped at the Madison store in over half a year, and have recently hit up my SA as I need some items to go on vacation for Memorial Day weekend. I haven't heard back and wondering if it's okay to go see a new SA. Just to give some background my SA has always been super nice to me, however, they were very not responsive, ex. I would text 3-4 times in a span of a month and get no reply from them.

What would you guys do if you were in my place? is it looked down upon to move to a new SA in the same store?

Do you want another wishlist bag in the near term? If not I wouldn’t worry about it.

Yes, I def want to build a relationship and get bags off of my wishlist. :/ Just seems like my SA might be too busy or not interested in keeping a relationship with me, which is totally fine with me. But would like to know if going for a new SA would be detrimental even if my current one is not responsive.

Yes it would. Best to text, call, or just show up and get facetime with your SA and then ask for the items when she can focus on you one to one. Typically when they don’t respond it’s because they don’t have the items.

I will try to see if they are in the store the, I am not even sure she's with H but i see that the texts are delivered. It just frustrating when I am not getting any response. I have called her several times in the past too and was never able to get a hold of her.

You can try to call the store directly to see if they can help you make an appt with your SA.

Does anyone have experience being surprised by being offered QB without getting a text message beforehand from SA?

PS. I saw a comment saying that the huge shipment arrived at the Madison store last weekend - does anyone have any update on this? I am wondering if the huge QB offers were made.

Yes... I've had that happen several times actually... usually at the end of the visit.
