Hermes High jewelry show and performance at the Shed, NY
seating for the performance is half an hour after cocktails. Show itself was highly stylized; modern. Staging reminded me a bit of Eyes Wide Shut (without the sex, sacrifices, etc). The music was a cross between tribal drums and depeche mode/ kraftwerk. Lyrics were repetitive group chants using words like liberation, coronation, salvation. . . Interesting ply of light and shadow. We were assigned first row seats, but there were even standing areas (maybe for influencers or press, IDK)

You are able to view the jewelry displays after the show (funnily enough, DH was the first one to get up and move to the jewelry in lit cases on stage. But there was no one to tell us about the jewelry, so most of us just milled around and took pics

ETA: cast of performers was relatively diverse with the exception of plus sizes

I just started building a relationship with an SA at Madison and noticed he's a fine jewelry and watch specialist. He helped me buy some jewelry and home goods but I'm wondering if he can help me with other items (shoes, RTW, QBs down the road) if I don't always buy jewelry/watches?

I feel a little awkward going to him just for shoes if that takes him away from the jewelry section where he's supposed to be "posted". Thanks all!

Yes he can. Mine is situated in a different dept, but helps me throughout (RTW, home, shoes, scarves, jewelry) and has offered me QBs.

Can any of you Madison fans report back on the Facebook urban myth? :confused1:

Not true. I was allowed to buy a bag out of one of the display cases a few years ago that had been the display model. I was told to inspect it very carefully for possible damage since it had been handled multiple times. The bag didn‘t have a mark on it as far as I could tell so I bought it. If it had had visible damage they would not have sold it to me. It was full retail and definitely not sold as is.

Unless I am mistaken, Hermes will not sell any goods ( leather, RTW, porcelain etc.) that are damaged in any way. That is why the SA does the visual inspection WITH you at the time of sale. It is also implied that you have inspected the item prior to payment. If any damage is noted, the item is taken off the floor, placed in the back, and sent back to Paris as damaged. I have had my SA show me an item, note an imperfection/damage and refuse to sell it to me (offering to source another).
The concept of "luxury shopping and goods" is not consistent with selling damaged goods at a discount.
And I'd love to see what happens to that person after they "accidentally" damage something.

I haven't shopped at the Madison Ave location in years. I wanted to visit probably when they open on a Sat morning. Do you think I'll be able to just walk in and meet with a SA or do I have to make an appointment?

And I'm back! Because this was truly irking me as I tried to focus on work. SO.. not to sound like a b$tch, I'm just a tired and cranky girl.
No judgement here- totally sure you were not considering this, @haute okole, just asking a legit question. But for those others even VAGUELY thinking about this, please consider the following:
After you have thought about "It's just the wrong thing to do" and are still considered it...

1. This action then impacts the store and the SA's bottom line- the store has paid for the item from their budget- they never get to sell it, and make anything on it- its a dead loss for them.
2. This or any other SA does not get to sell the item to anyone- therefore, no commission. People's livelihoods would be impacted.
3. The SA will certainly be questioned as to how this happened, how he/she allowed it to happen, why weren't they more attentive, in other words, best case scenario, they are really on the hot seat for something they could not control, because it was pre-meditated. This reflects on them and their professionalism and potentially, their relationship with their SM.

Ok, I'm stepping off my soapbox now and shutting up- Really, after I leave work and eat something, I promise I will be a much nicer person! :graucho:

It was kinda appalling how many people commented on that post asking people to let them know if it works  I’m hoping most of them said it rather cheekily, but still… the lengths people will go to for a QB:no:

FWIW, I would recommend going early on Sat, right when they open or around 4pm or later. I was there a couple of Sats ago, had an appt with my SA in the early afternoon, and had to wait for a hour before they were done with their previous client. It was a madhouse Saturday with lots of people just waiting to be helped. A weekday would be quieter IMHO.
