Hello fellow Hermes fans,

I am not familiar with international shipping, would like to know your experiences and input to ensure the safest way to ship a birkin.

I have a general question regarding shipping an item from Malaysia to the states. I am very nervous having it shipped from Malay to USA. I will insure the bag for its full retail price, but my question is, if I mark the item for a high dollar amount, what are the chances the item will get lost or switched due to an inside job within the shipping company? The workers will see a high dollar amount and perhaps open the box and see that it's a birkin and swap it out for a something else.

Should I insure the bag for the full cost, or not mention a dollar amount at all so that it the package doesn't scream high price item?

Which is the safest method to ship internationally? Of course I would use a well known courier such as UPS or Fedex.

Thanks!

Remember that you can only insure it for the amount you are willing to show on the shipping documents. If you underinsure and the bag gets lost or stolen, you will still be on the hook for the full purchase amount to the buyer. It's worth considering.

Was told by my SA that there will be a public sale at Hermes Pavilion (not sure about Hermes The Gardens) on this coming 14/8 - 17/8 if I'm not mistaken. Up to 50% for men's and women's RTW, some accessories & scarf.

i went to pavilion 2 days ago

they have bearn wallets (RM10700 ) in red , blue, and orange
they have the silk in wallets (RM4700) in a few colours as well
they have jypsiere in 3 colours (orange blue and grey)
i also saw a lady checking out a B35 (RM44K) in brown and B30 (RM39K) in black. but she is VVIP and the bags are for her. i asked if she lets go one, can i get it or not and SA says no, it goes to next person on the list.

Hello.
I lived in KL before and I never trusted malaysia POS(as I remember the post office service)
I used DHL before to sending valuable stuff to oversea.
Actually I used to ship some jewelry to England and USA, but I was so scared and have been wait a bit longer than it stated. And it is not easy to let me chase the delivery status, so after that I found DHL, even the cost is higher.
