Well... My friend tried to wipe off some light stain on her birkin handle and the colour came off and stained her damp cloth. She got a preowned which is about 10 yrs old. You think she got ripped off or it's normal after few years of wear

I'm trying to save up for a bag and wondering whether I need to save up longer and stick with brand new :shucks:

I love brand new, but that's just IMHO.

I agree with the others. I've a few vintage bags and colour has never come off ever when wiped.

Phew~~ That was a relief.. Thanks ladies for clearing the cloud. You have no idea how much I learned from you knowledgeable ladies in this forum :hugs:

Now I will need to let my friend know asap and hopefully she can do something about it. She was so excited receiving the bag. No one deserves to be in this position

Over here we've had a year of unseasonally wet weather and it obviously has a bearing on what bag you carry, hence the question - so i thought it would be interesting to hear what your answers would be.

Mine, for carrying in wet/bad weather is my Hermes Noumea (or for a non H bag it's a Mulberry Grosvenor), these are the bags that i will allow to get wet and can trust that they handle it without showing any ill effects whatsoever.

All the other bags i own, and they're only Hermes, Celine's and Mulberry's, i wouldn't want a drop of rain on them let alone take them out in grotty weather - and putting plastic 'raincoats' on them isn't my thing - anyway, they'd be on and off like a tarts ....... anyway, what are yours ?

Kelly 35 in black fjord. Took it to San Francisco in the pouring rain a few months ago. Normally I wouldn't take any Hermes bag out in really bad weather, but I had some events to go to and I wanted to carry Hermes.

It's rainy where I am today as well. My usual go-to bag is my Celine Medium Luggage Tote. It takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'. She has weathered snow and rain and has come out nary a stain or mark!! She's a very agreeable girl!! :smile1:
