Really....hmm. They have never once told me that; quite the opposite in fact. You must be a lot cuter than I am!! LOL!!

I second what everyone else has said, if it is real it's a really great price. That is my personal "grail" bag, so I'd be all over it if I had that chance!

One question though...I am a little confused because you said that it was being sold by a friend of yours, but then a few posts later you said you have never met the seller? To me, this kind of transaction requires *trust*. A lot of it.

its a friend of a friend. sorry for the confusion.
well, i guess we will find out. I just hate to go there and be embarrassed if they say, we absolutely will not do it. I go in there all the time for scarfs and belts and corporate gifts!
Is the togo much more expensive than the clemence/

My store does not accept authentication 'services'. I have witnessed walk in customers with sob stories about their fake birkins, and the SAs just have to firmly establish the fact with the customers that they cannot help authenticate the bags. They are used to it, day in and day out.

Well, much to my complete surprise, the NY store craftsman authenticated the bag!!!! I am now the proud owner of a 35 cm veau togo argente palladie!!! I am so thilled but still a bit sick from shelling out the cash! thanks for everyones help.

Congrats, MaggioMoo! Your bag sounds very yummy and bought at a great price. Please post some pics for us.

And yes, do let us know which of the craftman you have spoken with.

madrock,That's a toughie. I'm still saving for my dream H bag--and as many of the wonderful ladies already stated--part of the fun is in the wait and the chase. After getting a Hermes education on this board, I realized my first bag would definitely be a Bolide. But however, if I had an opportunity to use the concierge service and could afford to pay double the price; especially if it was a special bag, I might just go for the instant gratification. ;)
If you really want it NOW, I'd say to go for it. :)

I don't mind paying that much only if Amex gets it directly from Hermes, and if it is a rare find (for example...:graucho: I would pay that much if Amex can get me a baby rose Birk in PH size 35)

Sorry, I find this completely unbelievable. I am a cynic when it comes to these stories.

It was Claude. I just found out. He was very kind and attentive to us.

I understand Mrssparkles, I still cannot believe it either but it is true, why would i lie???

We spoke to a very nice french gentleman who was the craftsman at the store. He was fixing bags in the corner of the store I am going to get his name today because I have to go back to the store to pick up a belt. I even spoke to him again on the telephone after we left to the store to ask about the care and treatment (if any) of the leather

I did not think they would do it either but they did. I am sorry you do not believe me.

I do want to thank everyone who helped me. I appreciate your kindness.
