Just out of interest for anyone - I rang T3 Hermes and the lovely SA gave me the prices of some items . BUT she said as I'm a UK passport holder and I'm travelling within the EU , they operate a dual pricing system so I won;t be able to get duty/tax free.

ETA - I also rung T3 Chanel and the snooty SA said despite the above , I will be able to buy chanel @ duty / tax free ? I'm confused as to why hermes won;t and Chanel does ? Or is it the wrong info?
it's depends on whether the shop is located before or after the immigration, because within the continental Europe there's usually no passport control, once after the passport control, the prices at the duty free shop usually is detaxed, the one before passport control will be normal city price, then they can offer you a detax form if you live outside EU, it's the same ritual as if you buy from the city.

Yes hun , the H is after the passport controll - If I was travelling outside the EU ( and show the boarding pass accordingly) then I would get the tax free price . AAs I'm travelling within the EU ( dammit) I get the UK high street prices -

For those that have experience at CDG H stores, I assume that we don't have to detax since it is already free of VAT ?

e.g. A PM Evelyne would be 2 230,00 € at the stores. Would that be the same price or less at the airport ?

TIA.
chkpfbeliever, the PM Evelyne is actually €2000 in Paris. The GM is €2230, I believe. I'll transit through CDG soon and if I see an airport price I'll update this post :)

Weather you detaxe or not depends on if you are an EU traveller and / or are travelling to an EU destination - in LHR Hermes has a dual banding pricing system depending on if you qualify for tax or not depending on the above . That is fact as I rang prior to going to LHR and went there and saw this in action - HTH
CDG Paris ( T2A) was very prompt and efficent in taking phone calls and replying to emails to - they also have the solid silver cdc in their window display and smaller silver cdc
