For those that have experience at CDG H stores, I assume that we don't have to detax since it is already free of VAT ?

e.g. A PM Evelyne would be 2 230,00 € at the stores. Would that be the same price or less at the airport ?

Yes. CDG price is tax free. I think it's 11% detaxe price (even better than 10% & no need to wait for custom stamp neither). All you need is to pay the net amount with CC. However, it's all by chance what they have in stock. DH was very lucky 2yrs ago to get me a Lindy!

Thanks Ceci. I thought that the stores look fairly decent in size as I saw some airport photos from the web. Your DH was lucky to score a Lindy. I'll be happy to get a GP or Pico.

I heard Hermes is opening a store soon at the new Doha Hamad Intnl Airport. Anyone got any update to share? I'll frequent this airport soon between work and home so I am eager to hear more infos. Thanks!

I will be travelling through Hamad Int'l Airport tomorrow, and was wondering the same thing.
Has anyone transited there in recent days/weeks?

I was there about 3 weeks ago. They had some bags out on display including a gold lindy and jypsieres but cant remember the colors now. Also some of their canvas bags. A small selection of rtw in the back (men and women) and the watches as well as scarves and accessories section. I have a feeling they will stock this boutique well as Qatar is really coming up to be tough competition for the other Gulf airlines. Pls update us when you transit through!

Zurich Airport - Hermes store has good stock of bags (just Jypsieres, Evelynes... I don't recall seeing Lindys or GPs there), belts, scarves

Hamad International Airport - Hermes store is already open (and stays open late too! I was there at midnight and didn't expect the high-end boutiques to remain open at that hour!). They have bags, some belts, few scarves, RTWs.

Heathrow Terminal 4 - no Hermes store, but if you have access to the lounges, they offer personal shopping service. Just let the personal shoppers know what you want and they'll pick it up from the stores in the other Terminals and bring it over.

I found out recently that most of the store at HIA opened 24 hours. Hows that?? They really want to grab market share out of DIA. Customers win!

Just out of interest for anyone - I rang T3 Hermes and the lovely SA gave me the prices of some items . BUT she said as I'm a UK passport holder and I'm travelling within the EU , they operate a dual pricing system so I won;t be able to get duty/tax free.

ETA - I also rung T3 Chanel and the snooty SA said despite the above , I will be able to buy chanel @ duty / tax free ? I'm confused as to why hermes won;t and Chanel does ? Or is it the wrong info?

I have never even heard of a dual pricing system at european (or other) airports. I hold US and EU passport. Anyone out there that knows?

I think the Hermes store give you the right info (assuming the Chanel mistaken you to embark to long-haul destination as most of the case in T3). I could be wrong. Let us know how it turns out!

Hey

I know right - but the personal shopper who works at LHR should know her stuff right ?
i had it confirmed via email from LHR and via ringing chanel t3 - now when I turnn up and if they have stock is another question :graucho:
