I need help deciding which colorway to keep! I prefer the caramel/caban/nois because the design is more distinctive but not so sure it likes me😳. Such a tough decision! Please ignore my quick ties and unstyled hair!

IMO, never feel like you have to make a scarf work for you, it should do all the work for you. Unless you're buying the scarf to collect only (or hang on a wall) it has to make you look/feel great when you wear it.

It's clear you have the right instincts: the muted browns don't work, and the black and white looks wonderful on you.

I disagree that the design works better in brown, I think it works even better in monochrome. It's just a different feel. If you think you're buying a 'lesser' version though, don't buy either.

Just caught up and when I saw the comparative photos a few posts back I was like wow the mono tones make her skin pop! For me the black/ white is a no brainer. But I can appreciate how it’s hard to decide sometimes when we prefer tones that aren’t “our” tones… I think buying what gives us joy is as important as what necessarily suits us better

Of course, and if @makescarvesgreatagain felt that was most important, I'm sure she would have opted for the 'joy'.

As her dilemma indicated, looking good in the scarf was equally important to her, hence dilemma and asking for supportive advice from other members.

Hi, I’ve been using ChatGPT for my own color analysis, and I find it really informative. I added your photos to try out the feature, and here’s what it says!

“the best choice of scarf will depend on her skin tone, hair color, and overall contrast level:

1. First Scarf (Black and White):
• This scarf features high-contrast black and white tones, which tend to suit individuals with cool undertones and high contrast between their hair, skin, and eyes (e.g., Winters).
• On her, it works reasonably well because the crispness complements her likely cool undertones. However, the stark contrast might be a bit overwhelming unless her natural coloring has strong contrasts.

2. Second Scarf (Warm Brown and Black):
• This scarf is more muted and features earthy tones, which align better with Autumn palettes (warm undertones, lower contrast).
• On her, this scarf appears less complementary because it introduces warmth that doesn’t seem to enhance her complexion. Instead, it dulls her features slightly.

Best Choice:
The black and white scarf (first scarf) is a better fit for her coloring. The cool tones and sharper contrast bring out her natural vibrancy more effectively than the warm, muted tones of the second scarf. If she wants to make the second scarf work, pairing it with cooler, high-contrast clothing could help balance the warmth.”
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts! You have been very helpful and insightful. I have been told I’m a “winter” and I think you are exactly right. Sadly, I am now thinking this may be a scarf I have to pass on. I might be trying too hard to make it work😥

My Sous le Charme d'Orphee CSGM in CW03, blanc / jaune vif / rouge, has arrived. As is usually the case for Hermes, the "rouge" is closer to orange in my opinion. Especially when outside under cloudy skies.

I don't think this colorway is anything special with the black jacket. It is better with the brown and blue color families. I think it would also work well with a greenish khaki, as there is quite a bit of that color in there. The red is an orange-red, not a blue-red. The hem is medium brown. I really like the light blue color in there. The design is magnificent, and this CSGM is a keeper. I am wearing a small silk scarf to keep the cashmere off my neck. Now to learn to tie pretty knots.

Congrats Redbird! It looks great with your cool bomber jacket!

Second new scarf of the season and my first double face 90. A trip to the San Francisco boutique the other day resulted in the purchase of Guepards Bandana in CW 03 vert amanda/bleu/rose. I am thrilled to have a double face and love that both sides are very wearable for me! and I love that the border is a near perfect match for my periwinkle sweater.IMG_2221.jpegIMG_2240.jpeg

This is an enormously helpful post @cali_to_ny. 🙏 I really appreciate the side by side. I have been almost tempted to wear my Faubourg Tropical to the boutique! I love the one you selected for yourself-- it looks lovely with your hair and coloring.

@Persimmon13-- I completely agree with you and have also developed an "it depends" rule for my own purchases. The wide border is not myfavorite part of Faubourg Tropical CSGM but it works. There is no border on Jardin de Leila au Bloc or Retour a la Nature, for example and of course both of those have contrast hems! I am very eager to see your vert loden Orto.

I agree with everything you have said @etoile de mer -- and I also love the tone-on-tone cws. To this day I would love to find the blue Maharani and the blue Cosmographia, so thei blue Orto, for all the reasons you describe has real gravitational pull...
@LKBNOLA - Same here on finding these two blue shawls, especially the blue Cosmographia! I was mesmerized by it when it was offered on H.com, but had not yet given myself permission to indulge. I am haunted by it! I just opened the 06 Orto this morning and it is so lush and almost 3D when looking at it flat. It's absolutely gorgeous. Still, it does not have the slightly more varied and rich colors of the Cosmographia shawl. I am assessing if the Orto is too similar to my blue Act III and my Nothing but a Dreamer 100 (which I reach for frequently). It definitely looks darker in my photo here than IRL. I am sure I will decide it is different enough to justify keeping it. 🤦🏻‍♀️

@makescarvesgreatagain As I clicked through your photos of the Orphee I thought the photos of you in the camel looked quite nice, but then when I clicked through to the Noir Blanc on you, the Wow factor was undeniable!!! Just my little opinion.

This is such a cheerful, flattering cw for you. I actually like it with black, it caught my eye…perhaps try it with another material than leather.

I’m really sorry if my comment came across as unkind—that was absolutely not my intention. I was just sharing how the colorway worked for me personally. I truly value the kindness and diversity of opinions in this community and appreciate everyone’s insights!
How interesting to use Chat GPT for this purpose! And no worries @SilkCouture! It is hard when loved ones (or an SA!) don't appreciate a scarf that we ourselves love. Fortunately, there's always another beauty to choose that will suit. And we have all benefitted from the insight and generosity of this thread, for sure. :hugs:
Great advice! I think I am trying too hard to make the caramel scarf work.
It is hard when you really want a design to work and the cws are almost but not quite sparking the joy that you would wish @makescarvesgreatagain. I am still on Team Caramel for you, but have you considered any other blanc/noir options like the Tulipomanie triangle? I may be biased because I have it, but it is both bright and soft!

It is wonderful with your whole closet full of jackets @Redbirdhermes-- so bright and happy. I agree the black jacket does not do much for it, but the brown bomber is my very favorite-- followed by the colorful options. I am so happy for you-- I think the design is wonderful in this format.

Congratulations! This is gorgeous @CoastalCouture -- it was my choice too. I love it on the periwinkle sweater! Both sides are equally wearable for me as well, which is great and not always the case with every DF, though I love the format!

Thank you for these great side-by-side photos @CedarWaxWing! I also have Nothing But a Dreamer and a few other blues I want to compare. I am coming to the conclusion that I must seethe Orto cws I am interested in person. The light/camera seems to make such a difference in everyone's photos! Maybe one day, we will find the Cosmographia...

I Agree (for what it's worth). I do think b/w looks better - at least in the photo.

I think this is wonderful on you. It was the only design + cw which interested me this season but when trying it on in the H boutique it was (un)fortunately nothing for me. I envy you!😢
